No worries. Use a proxy filter.
Heres one at the link below.
Simply put a lightning MP3 URL into the box and you should be able to download mp3s from lightningmp3.com

what about the vocals don't you like?

some parts are off key I know. your the first to comment on the vocals being bad. its usually the drums being off that I hear.

I noticed the attack on some of the vocal phrases are nasty. NOt sure if you compressed the vocals far too much and made the compressor kick in heavily and cuase a horrible jump in volume at the start of certain phrases, or if you didnt use compression.

I have to agree I don't think the song itself is that original but it definetly isnt a bad song, but as you said yous are out of have fun rather than be original.

I did notice timing issues also, could be the drummer not used to playing to a click track (if you used one).

If you're so curious to get actual bands that your sound is "similar" to, here's a much better band. And in my humble opinion they're terrible. In the mighty words of Greg_L, "If you have to ask..."
 
The snare timing is off putting for the 1st dozen bars.
Not bad work.
Soundclick is VERY good.
Your bass needs definition.
Overall it's a bit fizzy but mspace doesn't help.
Keep myspace for fans & promo & go to lightning or soundclick for forum stuff.

I know those guys, and have played with them in previous bands. I assure you we sound nothing like them. Vocal wise maybe, but thats about it.

The problem I think I am running into.. goes back to the phrase "to each his own". Secret Lives is awesome. I love them, and think they are better than half the "modern radio" stuff. They are signed and doing what they love for a living.. so obviously they aren't as terrible as alot of people would think. What one type of person doesn't like, the next person will.

So, by asking what people on a forum of ALL types of musicians/listeners thinks is good and not good.. Is not going to get me anywhere due to the fact that there are too many different types of people. It doesn't appeal to everyone. People that like Nickelback(I think they are horrid) will not think secret lives is all that good.

My best bet is to leave the critiques on genre to the people that come to our shows and visit our myspace. and leave the recording critiques for here. If you want to list bands that sound like us that are better..

I can name a couple. as they are who we base alot of our stuff off of.

We sound similar to all those bands in different ways, but I don't consider us a direct rip off of any of them. I will say, that Secret Lives always seemed like a Glassjaw rip off, because their singer sounds IDENTICAL to Glassjaw's, but I honestly think thats part of what got them signed.. since Glassjaw is one of the most beloved bands in the hardcore/screamo genre.

Appreciate the thoughts and comments. I think its better left for our fans to decide what, and how he sound. You guys are here for recording!
 
It seems to me that you just came in here wanting your ego stroked. If you think your band is great and unique and all that shit, then good for you. Positive thinking is important. You obviously hear things in your music that make you feel special. That's awesome. Run with it. We as unbiased objective listeners hear the same ol same ol. It's not like we're music retards. Most everyone in here knows something about music, and no one accused you of ripping anyone off. You just sound like all the other modern shit out there. The bottom line is that regardless of the music, yall as a band aren't very good, or don't record very well. That's what I feel you should be focused on. Play better and you'll sound better than all the other bands that sound just like you. :)
 
First off i would like to just don't mix the hardcore scene with the screamo and pop punk scene they are two completely different scenes.

You can assure all you want, but that doesn't mean it's true. I've played in enough bands to know how "influences" can turn into ripoffs. It doesn't even matter, I should have just answered your question.
Yes, your band is terrible. I doubt you have any fans.
