I think that you would be better off using the other one. :D
Use both

Mix, or Re-mix, what's the rules? to be a fair competition we would have to use the same tracks and re-mix/re-arrange no?

Look up thread with "Public Mix Contest" in the title, on the MP3 clinic, that will give you an idea.

Usually it's up to the person with the tracks (I presume NL5?) to set basic guidelines. For example, if it's a client's track, they might give an idea of what the client would want. Or they might say do whatever you want. Most of the time it's been pretty open.

But all the re-mix stuff doesn't count too much towards score; the emphasis is on sonics. In fact out of the seven score categories, it would only count towards one.

I would suggest BitTorrent. We can make a torrent. Once a 2-3 people have and keep seeding it, it will easily be hosted without burning any bandwidth meters. Plus, BitTorrent has many clients that do not install spyware or anything. BitTornado's Experimental client is very stable and very lightweigh.

Given that we usually have 30 entries, I figure there will be about 100 downloads. Maybe more, but that's 40GB. It seems that a couple of servers ought to do.

I don't run my own server, it's hosted by a big company, so there should be no issues there . . .
