Basically I'm trying set up my room for recording and as a home theater. I'd also like to record(experiment and play)in surround as well. Pretty sure I'm going the fiberglass route. 4in. in the corners and 2in for the walls. How does this look:

I'll be taking off the closet door and plan on hanging heavy curtains in place of it. I'll still need access to the closet so I can't have a door there with the bass trap covering a portion of it. Will this cause any problems?
The projector will of course go over the couch. I'm planning on building a frame for the projector screen and putting an absorber underneath for the center speaker. I'll also be putting up a cloud as well as wall/ceiling traps in the future when funds allow it. The room has wood floors, plaster walls with paneling over the plaster on the walls with windows, and a cool spackled swirly ceiling(don't know what it's called). The room will pretty much stay this empty for the most part with the exception of a guitar, a bass, and an amp. Everything else will be in the desk including the receiver. I'd like to keep the room set up as shown if possible.
Any ideas or feedback are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Ethan my monitoring room dimensions are setup similar to this example

except that its width is about 7 feet longer.

would it be to my advantage to setup 90 degrees as well?

Why is above ex. not setup width way when it is longer?

thx in advance

sorry to hi-jack your thread . . . anyone? should I rotate 90 degrees as well?

I have my stereo monitors firing longways and my 5.1 setup firing down the shorter length. My drawing might be a little confusing. My stereo monitors are on my desk(top of room in the drawing), the projector screen is on the right as well as the center, left, and right speakers. The couch is on the left where the blocked doors are. Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

Still wondering about some things.. Will just a heavy curtain over the open closet doorway offer adequate absorption? It's kind of an important spot for treatment, right? Would it actually help since sound would be going through the heavy curtain/treatment and then into a cavity(closet) at this spot? The problem is that I'd have to take the closet door off if I want to put a corner bass trap there and still have access to the closet.
Also, will just a curtain and possibly a little foam behind my desk and monitors do the trick? Or should I do something else? Thanks again!

Yeah, you should rotate if possible. Since I'm trying to set up two sets of speakers, 5.1(mostly for watching movies and such) and stereo(for monitoring my recordings), I decided that it's more important to try to get a more accurate reading from my stereo monitors if possible. That's why I set up my stereo monitors in the more ideal placement and the 5.1 in the not so ideal placement :)
That's my thinking anyway.

Yea, I'm thinking I'm going to rotate tonight. Just wanted to add the width of my room is 20.3" not 13' 3". I also wanted to add that my ceiling is angled as well.

My main reason for asking the question is because in the ex. pic it is not setup with the monitors pointing the longer way. I Do not why it is illustrated like this (why it's not rotated 90 degrees). Anyhow thx for your input.
