What Pro Tools *****?
That's right, the Cakewalk name will no longer be used and the software will now be called "SONAR". I don't know... it sounds like something a commie would come up with. Sonar? Sounds like something a U-Boat would use.

Regardless... The Cakewalk moniker is irrelevant. Time to rename this forum to "Sonar".

your a recent arrival on our planet aren't you???

so cakewalk is renaming all their software? are you sure about this? sounds kinda bazaar.:confused:

But...but...but...

What about:

Project5
Home Studio
Guitar Tracks
Kinetic

?????

Do we call them all SONAR?

"Paging blkdog7, please pick up the white courtesy clue phone..."

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I guess I can stop holding my breath for Cakewalk 10.

Actually the last time they used "Cakewalk" was on version 3. Version 4 went to Pro Audio, and as most of us know, now they use SONAR.

i'M STILL LEARNING tWELVE-tONE SYSTEMS.....don't confuse me!

Sonar Home Studio
Sonar guitar Tracks Pro
Sonar Kinetic

I'm waiting for an MS-DOS version;)

Man you have DOS? I JUST upgraded my Commodore 64 to the Commodore 128. I am saving my money up now to buy the 1 meg harddrive to go with it. Last time I checked it was just under $1,000.

I give it 2 years before a new name comes. The name Sonar is fairly new, maybe 8 years old at most. The Pro Audio name was used for maybe 8 or 10. Its about time for a change. Lets not be a-changin forum names just yet...

If we start now, maybe we can get a few good ideas going for when that time comes ...

I'll start ---

Let name it ...

"DAW King"

Get it? The king --- of DAWs???

If you have to explain it ...

It's almost as dumb as "Cakewalk" ... "Cakewalk"? What does THAT have to do with audio???

:D

The definition of Cakewalk:

  1. 1. (formerly) a promenade or march, of black American origin, in which the couples with the most intricate or eccentric steps received cakes as prizes.
  2. 2. a dance with a strutting step based on this promenade.
  3. 3. music for this dance.
  4. 4. Informal. something easy, sure, or certain.

I think the product was based on definition 4 as its early version was a good tool for creating MIDI music.

with the roland v-vocal, roland groove station, and now the edirol fa-101 being part of the "sonar power" bundle with the face of the unit painted with "cakewalk", I thought maybe Roland was making a play for Cakewalk... guess they are just strategic partners.

Nonsense. Next you'll be telling me Syntrillium no longer make Cool Edit, or the Sound Forge brand has been bought by Sony. What kind of idiots do you take us for?!
