Okay, i have a Tascam Us122, which has a preamp. Alot of people told me that the Tascam preamp isnt that good. So i got a VTB-1. But talking to someone, who's opinion, I value and respect, tells me I dont really need the VTB-1, cause the tascam will do the same job just as good? Advice?

Would this work if I bought it and lined it with soundproof foam instead? Since I record in my basement, the environment is horrible for vocals, but would that happen to give the vocals more presence and come out better? I was trying to make something like that on my own, but didnt work out.

okay, I test out my vocals with and without my compressor, and well the distortion is an issue without the compressor, but with the compressor the vocals are flatter. I am confused cause I know someone that has songs on the radio, excellent quality, and he uses the 3630, I got a dbx 266xl. Maybe...

I have the GT 55 and its great, but someone told me that the Shure is ALOT better and its only 100 more.. truth? Will be used for rap vocals. Also wanna throw in the AT 4040, cause I heard good things about that as well.

Right now I record directly into my laptop. Someone told me if I get a mutli-track mixer it will improve my quality. They also said it was safer, cause laptops can crash, get viruses and all that. I get the safer thing, but will it really improve my quality?
