hi all,,,,quick question,

as usual, protools has decided that it wants to change something when i'm not there (don't care what anyone says,,,,computers are self aware)

anyway, for the last few years i've been zooming in protools 6.*7.* and now 8, using R and T.

today it's decided that it wont let me do that, and i have to use ctrl + R or T..

i'm aware that PT 7 used to have a 'modifier' button?(with an A on it) that allowed the use of shortcuts without modifiers,,,,but i can't find anything of the sort in PT8...

any ideas how to turn this off folks?

thanks in advance.

the keyboard focus command (a...z button) in PT >7.4 was located at the top left of the screen, underneath your modifiers..

Not sure about PT 8, but from what i've gathered doing a quick google search, the keyboard focus command (a...z button) is located in the "top right of the edit window" between the timeline and regions list.

Don't have PT8 yet so i'm not 100% sure.

but you can always use Ctrl+Option+1 to toggle the 'keyboard focus' mode on and off.

hope this helps,
j

That's bang on. The keyboard focus button is exactly where J said.

see?!?!?! Now that's what I hate abut PT8.

I flat out refuse to believe that was one of the futures Digi were being dogged about by customers. Instead, it's just confusing a bunch of people.

And what about decent plugin delay compensation? Noooooo....no one wants to see THAT in LE do they? no, what everyone wants is new colours and moved buttons

Let's not get into this.... delay compensation would require a rewrite of the entire engine. I expect if it's to be implimented then it will come with or shortly after 64 bit os support.

No feature has been added/removed with respect to keyboard focus, the button has just moved within the screen. It is a new GUI.

i could be missing it, but, i can't see the button anywhere,

that shortcut has sorted it though,,,thanks for that!!!!

i DID google it,,a lot,,,,,but as is often the case, i didn't know the feature name, soo...thanks :)

as for delay compensation,,don't start me :(

for now, god bless 'time delay short' ;)

<edit> is it ok to throw in another question, since we're PT8 bashing????lol...

i started a thread about how when i click on the time line<during playback>, more often than not, protools just makes up a loop region to play back....

sometimes i have to click the timeline three of four times before it stops making up regions and just plays back from where i clicked.....

there doesn't seem to be any pattern to the regions that it hightlights <doesn't correlate with waveforms or anything>

any one experiencing this??
