Whats up everybody I'm new here and I have a VERY IMPORTANT ? (really means alot to me). I'm new (rookie) to recording I just bought a Zoom MRS-1608CD and I read the book but my problem is that when I try to take the drum track or take and put it in the 1st take so I can Record a simple drum beat it wouldn't to that  . If someone could help me out it would mean the world to me. thanks

I have the Zoom 1266 and it can't be that big of difference. I don't use the drums on the Zoom that much anyway, I use the Zoom just for tracking and effects, then I send it to Sonar. But I would recommend you go to the groups forum in Yahoo, it has dedicated Zoom users from the older models to the 1608cd, GOOD LUCK! !

If you don't have a an account sign up at www.yahoo.com
Then go to groups on the left side of the home page and register for the Zoom groups the 1266 an/or the 1044

To try an answer your question anyway, I don't think you can record the Drum tracks to V takes. The V takes are only for things you recorded via the input source or from bounced tracks. I believe the programmed drum tracks will play only from the actual drum source track itself. Unless you record it from an external source, (i.e external dum machine) then you can record it directly on a track and then be able to use v takes. I hope that was what you were asking, if not repost and I will further explain..............L**** I said, I am not particularly a fan of the Drum track, I use my own.............

interesting, I noticed 0n my Korg that they have a choice in the source option for the track for the rhythm machine so it can be recorded.

Actually, I think you can record the drum (and bass) track with bounce function. You can use the internal patterns or control the drum and the bass with a external sequencer, you perform a playback and in the same time you bounce your tracks direct to a take tracks, and then you have your drum and bass on a v-take. Hope it help.

Thanks.....That's good to know, if I ever desire to use the Bass/Drums. SO once you bounce 2/3 tracks plus the bass/drums to say track 9, everything is bounced including the bass/drums? Cool!
Thanks again for the info and sorry for posting without checking into it:(

zoom drums

hey guys, you most certainly can record a drum track to any v-take you like. i hope you didnt lose the manual, cause it is very helpful and very easy to use. just his the track/edit button. push the little arrow over until you see recsrc. hit enter. turn the wheel to drum trk. hit exit twice. make sure the bounce button is lit up, or the drums wont show up. be sure to record to two stereo paired tracks so you can eq and pan. tracks are only linked up to track 8, but you can do wonders for your drum tracks this way. then if you run out of space you can bounce to a single track and still keep effects and pan. you can also do all of this with the bass track.
