Sabian all the way. Never cracked one in 15 years. Been thru 3 Zil and 2 Pastie. Sabians outlast them all, and I play country!

Yeah! Unlike them heavy metal pussies!!

I prefer Zildjian A's to most anything, just awesome all purpose cymbals. I do have a Sabian china (17" XXTreme) that I really dig. Also, for the big Dave Grohl washed out consantly lit up big crash sound the Sabian Signature Chad Smith 20.5" crash is outstanding and takes very little effort to keep it flowing.

War

Warren, I didn't know you were a drummer?! :)

I've seen them all broken. They all break regardless of brand. They all make good stuff and they all make crap ( like the ZBT and the Piaste 302 shit for example) but they all make great sounding cymbals.

True, but on this set Sabians are here to stay, never lost one yet....................

This thread is pointless.

No one cymbal company is better than another, It all comes down to personal taste. Then the fact that you've missed out some amazing cymbal companies in the process.

Paiste are amazing, and should have been grouped with the others in the poll. They are the 'big 3' in the cymbal world.

But then there are all the smaller ones, minel make some superb cymabls and are constantly creative with their ideas for new products. UFIP cymbals destory the compitition in every single way. Stagg make rally nice trashy splashes and chinas, WHO CARES THAT THEY'RE CHEAPY!

I can't find a trashy splash cymbal from any other company i like as much. But then it's my personal taste...which comes back to my first point.

We've reached a point now where the QC is amost equal in everyway with these companies, the support and warrenties are almost identical, the materials they're using aren't that dissimilar. They all have the same 'ranges' as such. The only difference is what YOU think of the cymbal itself.

So like i said, It's all personal taste.

^ Don't forget Instanbul.

I really like Sabian for some reason, I don't know why. But i'd of course use any cymbal if it sounds good. Infact sometimes I use a 3 year old Solar (eww, i know) ride just because its less cutting and more mellow than my pro sonix ride, if I was playing jazz or something.

I traded my se5t of solars and $180 for a sound creations dark china (Paiste) and a nice stand. I wont regret that :D

Did anyone mention that Sabian cymbals was founded by a guy named Robert Zildjian? I guess the story is interesting, but I never heard the "real" reason, but he evidentally branched away from the family business to start his own.
Here, knock yourself out.
