YSM-1 or something else or what?

Here's my deal--I need some monitors, but I've decided I can't justify spending much money on them. I'd spend about $300, but not much more. I have a passable JVC consumer amp that doesn't seem to do anything wierd with the EQ. Should I get passive YSM-1s, passive Tannoy Reveals, the new M-Audio Studiophiles (powered), or spring for powered YSM-1s? I know the Yorkvilles have some huge fans here. BTW, I can't demo any of these because Iowa City, IA just doesn't seem to be much of a market for semi-pro gear.

Man, that's a tuff call. I've got the YSM-1s but what I like, you may think sucks. If you're not in a position to audition monitors, you're always gonna have that nagging feeling that I bought "X", man I knew I shoulda went with"Y". Hmmm...

I dont think youd go wrong with the Reveals,YSM1's, ProtoJ's....as far as the Deltas, i havent heard them yet so i wont pass judgement.....
