your rack?

I'm looking into getting a rack, what are some important things to have or good things to consider looking into. I was thinking of just getting a power amp on the rack or just getting rack gear and running it into a head, whats the better idea? What equipment do you have on your rack?
 
a sonic maximizer and a compressor is always nice.
run it through a wireless system and you'll be fine.
 
Do a lot more reading before you part with any of your hard-earned $$$.

I have no rack and might not even get one. Play every instrument and see no use for one right now.

That's pretty much how I see it, I like toys, but other than 4 or 5 pedals and some controlable options on the amp, what else do you need?
 
Pretty minimal for me. Furman PL-8, Peavey Valverb, DBX 266, Rane AP13, Effectron III - mostly because I've had these forever. IMHO pedals have improved so much that they have decreased the need for a rack unless you are looking at high end processing or you really want a multifunction effects processor.

I run through a furman power conditioner and a tuner.
that's it. :)
 
Stomp boxes have plenty function/tone these days, but they just aren't as fun to play with as a racked rig IMO. Plus they don't have all the pirdy lights :D
