Hey all,
Been lurking for quite sometime now, thought I would finally post. Been enjoying the hell out of the resources here by the way. Already seen improvements in my mixes with the info from these boards alone. Anyways, I am looking for some opinions on on monitors roughly in 350.00 dollar range. Going to make the purchase next week and of course have been reading reviews etc but looking for some hands on expierence for this paticular price range.

thanks in advance for your feedback!

Very favorable.

I like them.

Couldn't do without 'em, in fact.

Ahh Chessrock...ya kill me... :D
Vince...No personal exp here but have heard good reports from the Truths...I think they're about 300.00 now. I'm using an old set of Yamaha stereo speakers thru an older Pioneer SA9100. Not much help for you, I know, but I get good mixes outta em.
FWIW.................

If you have a decent dealer showroom with cooperative sales assistants near you, may I recommend bringing a CD or two with you that you know the sound of intimately well - and, if you are going to be recording mostly yourself, maybe are of a genre of music that matches wht you want to record - to the showroom and auditioning a few monitors in the price range that fits your budget.

The monitors that "make the most sense" to your ears when you listen to those familiar tracks are probably the ones you should consider.

Yo Vincenzo of Vegas: [Give you a deal you can't refuse.}

What Southern Glen says it about the best advice you can get. Hearing is believing before you open your wallet.

The KRK passives, for the money, are very good. 8" woofers far outdo the 6.5 woofers found in many, many other monitors that cost much more.

Of coure, if you want to spend some pezzutos, there are marvelous sounding monitors out there, passive and active.

So, trip out to the vendor's store, listen up, and decide, if you can.

If not, then do what many of us do; take a chance. You can always return monitors from a good vendor; but, the cost of shipping and trying to repack them yourself are a pain in the lower section of the anatomy.
