You ever just feel like throwing in the towel?

Cory, if I were you, I'd get one of your machines working, one which is the closest to actual operation. I'd focus on ONLY that one. I'd then do some tracking and recording. You need to have this done in a matter of weeks and not in months or years. Put aside all the others, for that period of time. It doesn't matter which machine. The most important is that you finish a project and not make any projections for the next 6months, year or so....... This will give you a short term goal which will revitalize you. Later, you can work on other stuff. Oh and please, don't subject your machines to experiments that'll ruin all the work that you've done. I know that you wish to help but don't sabotage your own.

Sorry, man but it needed to be said but......, as Cory mentioned previously, it's not your or anyone's fault but his own. It's painful to say but we can't pussyfoot around the issue, especially that we really DO want the best for our friend.

Take a night or two off; it'll still be there tomorrow.

Good luck on finding your mojo,

anybody else get there sometimes?

Lots of times, Cory. Sometimes you need a break from whatever... give yourself permission to pause without throwing in the towel. The battle is often won by sounding retreat, regroup and then attack from another angle with a new vision.

One thing I’ve done is to consolidate and reduce, but I still have too much stuff. I even have too much tape, if that’s possible. ;)

Also, short days and winter aren’t the best time for me, so I try not to let a snapshot during this time become the overall picture. I have my winter expectations and my summer expectations… and I have a punching bag and weights in my garage. Sometimes my Eureka moments are in deep thought while working out, rather than wrestling with a piece of recording equipment. Works when I go running too. Whatever else you do that has nothing to do with recording -- do that! :)

1. As if I don't know its a joke... :???:
2. I already HAVE a digital rig...
3. AND, unlike SOMEBODY, I still have a horrible Christmas sweater...

Hey, Daniel, I hear what you are saying abot not experimenting with my gear. It didn't appear at all to be an experiment at the time. Lesson learned. I just want to make sure that what you feel needs to be said does not reflect on Cobb at all...BELIEVE ME...he had absolutely no say in what I chose to do, neither did he encourage or ask for me to do what I did and he STILL tried to take responsibility, so the egg's on me. If me trying to help publically is going to cause trouble for anybody then I'm goin' underground baby! Stealth helper!! But I have experienced a new phenomenon with the test I ran and it is a reminder that things seldom seem as absolute as they may appear.

And here is the REAL capper...this thing with my 388 may have NOTHING TO DO with tests I ran to assist with Cobb's 388 so...anyway.

So I'm much better fellas. The great advice keeps coming and I appreciate it. I actually think I figgered my DAW headache out...obscure IEEE 1394 hotfix issue with Windows XP SP3.

Got some technical help today with setting tensions and adjusting the flutter idlers on the MM-1000...these were looming in my mind.

All is much better and I'm planning on focusing on the 388 until its done.

that was for the rest of these guys that lack a sense of humor.

Just how ugly was this sweater you had? I bet it can't match the first Christmas morning with my wife and in laws! We get up early to unwrap the gifts ETC ETC and my father in law comes downstairs wearing like one of thoes nightgown things for men from the 70's it was like a checkered green. If he would have had the little hat I would have left, with the gifts of course.

I may regret this later but I'm starting to get a kick out of ez's posts. At first he annoys but then he kinda grows on you, like moss on a stone.:D

edison

Thomas Edison:confused::eek:;)

Yeah i figured thats who it was, but just in case there was some historic dispute about who really was first, id rather not have specified just in case there were some forumers looking to rage on anyone who didnt know the "truth" about who really invented it first.

You gotta watch what you type in forums! You never know when you might be "wrong".

I was thinking more like a fungal growth in the groin area...(that was for you, ez) heheh

You know, I rise up a bit with some of your posts, ez...but so what, right? Maybe I'm a fool but I'm okay with that because I don't get hackled by it anymore...okay...I have to share what totally turned the table for me.

You see, I negative repped ez...never done that before. Felt wierd. Not so much in my nature but I just thought he was being a jerk!

You know what he did? He quickly returned the gesture with positive rep which was a HUGE boost to my rep points...and the comment he wrote...I'll have to look, but it was...hilarious. I felt like a schmuck and I figure he wasn't taking anything seriously. His posts looked different to me after that...and then that hideous/awesome watermelon sweater...

So anyway...anyway...yeah.
