At street $1900.00 with 24 tracks, lightpipe, +4/-10 set-up,24 analog I's and O's,full editing capabilities,etc.etc.etc.,would you consider upgrading to that? I ask you 'cause you're a brother ADAT owner!
Or are you gonna' stick with your XT's??
I kinda' contemplated owning 1 b-4 I threw my money at Sammy's for anutha' LX and a XT.
Simply curiouand wanting to hear your opinion.
Thx!

Call me old-fashioned...

...but I LIKE the security of knowing it's down on tape (and backed-up!) as opposed to being nebulously stored on the hard-disk.

As much as I have worked with computers many, many years and know them intimately, they are notoriously untrustworthy when it comes to data-storage of any significant value!

So............... until my 3 XT20s are beyond repair, I will be making good use of them!

Not only that -- I prefer analog consoles and outboard gear to digital consoles and plug-ins!

Call me saber-tooth Bear... :D

Man that's all I wanted to know! I too luv outboards and have been nurtured on tape. I know a lot of people
will say,"Dude,go digital;tapes are un-reliable,head problems;pc's are faster, join the 20th century etc". 1 of the main reasons I haven't posted any of my crappy-@ss songs to MP3 is they sound great to me and some of my musician friends, but as soon as I upload 1 to a .wav file, it sounds as though my wife recorded it with assistance from my daughter be it LoFi or HiFi (and she has absolutely NO knowledge of recording. As a matter of fact she thinks a Fender Stratocaster is a new kind of car bumper!).
Anyway's,thx for the response! I'm stickin' with what I have,besides,I'm old-school.
Peace.

That's a heck of a nice price, but I think I'll wait and see how that machine is embraced by the users ... plus $1900 is great, but $1200 is even better ;)

I don't think tape is that bad. The only problems I've had with the transports have been due to my procrastination of getting regular preventative maintenance. Plus, I also like being able to file it on the shelf and be done with it.

Still, when the price is right (ie. when I could sell both LX20s for about the price of this 24trk HD unit) I would consider it. But, then again, I'd probably chicken out and stick with what I know. :D
