Haven't had Mr Mojo calling around my place for a while, so I'm pleased to have squeezed this one out relatively painlessly.

I took the SG, Toneport and laptop to the beach for a few days last month and managed to get the guts of this tune recorded in an afternoon.

As ever I'm interested in your first impression of the mix, balance and levels. All comments appreciated.


Edit: I changed the verse vocal in an attempt to make it suck less hard..

Brutal bass intro - nicely done.
The buzzing swirling gtr sounds a little mosquitoish - needs some more meat or more FX.
I don't smell any sun sea & servility!
Icould bang my head to it.

I love it. You always have good bass-groove based stuff, which is right up my ally. I'm not 1000% sold on the vocal in this. I get what you're going for, just not sure if it does it for me. That's just personal. I love the lo-fi drums.

This is fun. I like the guitar tones and the drums as always are super cool. Nice breaks. I enjoy your deadpan vocals, but these seem even more devoid of emotional content than usual. I could listen to your beats and riffs for hours. Mix sounds good to me.
 
I thought it was great bull, you really have that dark Zeppelin groove goin great. Are all those guitar parts in straight E tuning or you using G or D ? I love the guitar tone, you can always add a little LPF to take out some fizz but it sounds good here. Mix sounds right on.

Really enjoyed it.
 
Sounds mostly pretty great. No problems with the instrumentation. I'm not crazy about the vocal delivery. The vocals seem kind of weak compared to the rest. Like you didn't put much effort into them. Cool song though. Great mix.
 
Sounds cool. Sounds real big. Great low end.

Agree on the vocals. they're OK, but maybe a little "tentative" on the delivery. Hearing a few clicks on what I think is the vocal track. Listen at about :34 right after the line "...it all sounds the same." Sounds like mouth clicks. It's in quite a few spots.

I wonder what your guitars would sound like with a boost at around 6K or so. Might make them sizzle a little more. Might be cool.

Everything here is nitpicky. Sounded nice.
 
You know I'm a big fan of your stuff.....it has your "sound" fer sure, which is a great thing:cool:.....dig that vocal effect around the 2:00 mark......if I had to nit, I would dig a little more lo-end...but thats just me....

PDP - Yeah sometimes I get more immediate inspiration in drop D and sometimes I downtune 1/2 a step to get a slinkier feel but this one is just standard E. Thanks for giving it a listen

TripleM - I know exactly what to do with the vocals: lassoo and hit delete. With the guitars I generally tend to cut before boosting. The line between sizzle and insect in the middle ear is a fine one. Thanks for the comments Trip
