Hi Folks,

I recently downloaded the Wave=to software from the Yamaha site which can convert standard wav files to the sy85 format but its the demo version and won't let you save or do midi dumps.

I've had no luck contacting the original distributors. Does anyone know where you can get the full version of of any other software that will do the same job.

Cheers

Maybe. I found something very cool a while back, lemme see if I can find it again.

I use an SY77, this program basically takes the user interface from the SY85 and SY77 and makes it standalone. Gimme a sec...

From the HELP file of SY Manager (and apparently it isn't the SY85 but the SY99 that it works with. Maybe you can still use it):

"What is SY Manager?

SY Manager is a Windows based application for creating, editing, and storing voices and other data for the Yamaha SY77 and SY99 Music Synthesisers.

Using SY Manager you can transfer MIDI data to and from your SY77 or SY99 synthesiser and you can also convert voices from DX7 to SY77 format, and to/from SY77 and SY99 formats.

SY Manager’s comprehensive voice library management features include drag and drop editing and list printing.

SY Manager incorporates a MidiFile Player and a SYnth Front Panel Simulator.

NOTE: To use SY Manager with your SYnth you must have a Soundcard that supports MIDI installed in your PC."

BTW, you'll probably need to search for this program ("SY Manager"). It was writtem by a guy named Jon Morgan, apparently, maybe that'll help.

-K.
