Hi, I'm new here, and also new to producing.

I have skills in Radio and Television production, but music production is the one thing that I always have difficulty with.
I have a strong desire to produce my own music.
I am a vocalist above everything else and have written songs to tunes in my head, but no music (you know how that is. . .)

I hear that the Yamaha QY100 is good for vocalists and guitarists who want to produce accompaniment for their songs.
How affective is this product? To me, it seems like a good tool for someone like me who is just starting to produce music.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

it's not a totally stupid piece of work actually.. i'd like to say it is, cause i couldn't use one (too limited), but it isn't.. It's got a decent sequencer and some .. fair.. sounds.. I'd say if you're just planning to do some background stuff for your production it'd be a fair tool..
I'd prefer the RM1X myzelf though, which has got a great live sequencer.. Or at least the QY700 which is actually just about the same as an RM1X with some really neat extra features...
The thing is.. the QY100 doesn't save your recordings when the batterys run out.. but it's got some extra features the QY700 doesn't have and the other way around.. kinda stupid actually.. better check out both of their specs m8 and find out what you need..
what about sampling? are you planning on doing any of that?

I am going to be producing pop style songs, so I eventually want to incorporate sampling into my work. For now, however, I am looking for something that will provide good sound (basic accompaniment that I can produce as well as some effects) and since I am new to this, I also need something that will be easy to use.

the QY's are quite easy to handle actually.. I'm quite impressed by 'em even though i hate to say it.. I'd take the QY700 if i were you though or maybe still have the RM1X into consideration..

If you want the power of a QY without chord handeling, a better sequencer and a sampler on top of that, you should go for Yamaha Motif.. the sheezz!! Even got a compressor onboard
