I know that there is a 3" difference in the woofer size, betwixt the two, but which of these might be the better set of monitors? My 'Truths' are really too large for the only area that I can set a pair in, and a friend is getting a pair of the Yamaha MSP5A monitors. It is quite possible that he will consider trading with me, and I just wanted to get a little feedback from someone who might have had some experience with both sets.

Nate, I read a lengthy monitor shoot-out article in Future Music mag (early 2005) that had a group of pros blind-listening to various monitors. Their overall low-budget favorites--and biggest surprises, given their small size--were the 3" and 5" Yamaha models. That's all I know about them.

By the way, how do you like the Truths? Despite reading about some reliability problems, I've heard a lot of good about them.

Hey there, Jeffree ~

and thanks for responding. Do I like my Behringer Truth B2031A's? Yes I do, in fact. I have not experienced any of the interference problems that some other owners have complained about. These monitors are really nice (to me), and VERY powerful. If I had to single out something to nit-pick about, it would be the bottom end. It comes through somewhat stronger than what I would like, but it isn't really such a huge hurdle because you learn to adjust your working situation to that factor. Could I have done better than these? Of this I am sure. But it would have been at the warranting of a much larger cost requirement. For the money, these are a nice set, and (despite their 'low-end' classification by many) are more than enough to get the job done. The reason that I am considering trading with my friend is that these speakers are huge, especially in comparison to the previous set that I had, and I could really do with a smaller set of near-fields. It's really a hard decision, and I may just stick with my 'Truths' - because I like them like that
:) .

Take care, my friend.

Thanks, Nate. Some of my European colleagues, in particular, have expressed similar positive thoughts about the Behringers. They seem to do the job well.

Jeffree,

You are quite welcome, and guess what? I have decided to keep my Truths. Yes, I would have gained some real estate by going with a smaller set, but I am just too fond of these monitors. So they WILL stay.

I have the Behringer B2031P Passive monitors and I am very impressed with them. For the $130 you cant go wrong.

Hey! Me too!! Bought my B2031P's almost 2 months ago...I've thrown everything at them.....they're still coming back for more!!
I love them!! (they are very large and heavy, but!!) :)
Regards,
Superspit.

Bought my 2031A's this summer as my first set of monitors, I'm THRILLED with them. I think mine were refurbished though. $279 B-Grades @ the woodwind brasswind. Boxes and everything were unopened, Couldn't be happier!

I've been hearing amazing mixes done on Behringer 2031A's around a year.
IMO its more the Engineer, but he has no problem with the
Behringer Truths.... a great bang for the buck and no problems to repair.
He used JBL's for many, many years.

Its the only Behringer piece I've heard repeatedly good posts on.

congrats

New Behringer 2031A's

Hello,

I just received my 2031A's from FedEx this Saturday. Can't comment on long-term reliability, but I've been impressed with their sound so far.

I have a friend who are looking at buying home audio speakers from Polk, etc., so I'm going to bring the TRUTH 2031's over for him to have a listen. I know that these were not designed for home audio applications, but if he likes the neutral sound of these monitors, why not?

I do like mine, and I seem to hear things in the mix better than I did with my KRK V8's and the 10" KRK sub that accompanied them. The only qualm I have is that one is about 5-6 db louder than the other, which required a little time investment to work out gain stage, but after all is said and done, I am surprisingly happy.
