Hey guys, I would appreciate it if you not further poison my attempt at posting useful information that someone may search out as reference in the future. Please take it elsewhere, which would be the cave, and I even started a link right here just so you guys can get out of this thread and to the proper boxing ring...

Thank You!

now now zallen you don't know any alternatives to roxio? being a big ukelele center employee? You could maybe try samplitude, saw studio, cd architect, and there are plenty of others. Roxio is for children. Even on the cheap end you could at least use nero. It even supports multiple burners. But of course you only use it to burn reference copies, correct? You don't use it for data backup do you? can you say exabyte? please say it isn't so zallen. Since you are an expert on the mastering process you should know that your ME sequences your cd. ever hear of sonic solutions? thought so. do you have any glass masters? You do use your ME for your final conversion don't you? you know, your 1/2" reel. what tape forumlation do you use? what calibration tones do you put on your reel or even DAT? how many nWb/m? is that your standard or elevated level? or is it nWb/m-DIN? which one is the eurpean operating level? what's the name of your ME? there are really only a handful of really good ones.

yeah you are right about the purdue thing i confused you with jfreeman, but it doesn't really matter since it is really easy to confuse you with jfreeman and boray as you are all equally idiotic. Now you should realize the mac hardware is about two years behind pc hardware and the only reason we still use it is because digidesign has got us by the balls and people for some reason think protools is the shiznit. You recently bought protools right? what hardware are you using? are you using OSX? I guess I don't know shit about computers since I used to program:

10 for x=1 to 1000
20 ?"zallen knows shit"
30 next x

(well it is BASIC so I know i am dating myself)

and have about four or five around my studio that I hand built. I have a dual 1.0 gig mac and a dual xeon machine that I use for tracking. Of course that is only when my stupid clients don't wanto use my 24 track 2". All are equipped with scsci 0+1 Raid arrays for redundant backup. Plus I use data DAT backup, exabyte and removable drives. I have a smaller p3 machine I use for controlling my analog mixer's automation and somtimes for midi control. If you used computers in such a context you'd realize the superior speed of a properly configured pc. What temp does your cpu reach under full load? your hard drives? You really should know how hot your hard drives get. Are your racks lined with cooling fans? How hot does your studio get? how hot does you machine room get?

now if you actually ever used a schoeps, dp or b & k small diaphragm you'd realize the error of your ways. Ever use an earthworks small diaphgragm? I forgot you can't buy those at guitar center so you are unfamiliar with them.

ok so you know about mogami cabling which I'm sure you have compared to canare, belden etc. Now when you soldered your cables what did your properly soldered joint look like? how did you acheive this? how did you clean your soldering iron?

I'd take my cheap ass ns10's over your hr824's any day. but then again I'm not a genelec fan.

Sweetnubs... can you read? If not, I'll spell it out for you. Take it to the other thread. Damn.

Just shows that knowledge and wisdom can be mutually exclusive (Sorry, Tube - here's my real question)

I'm considering getting a pair of powered nearfields to complement the 2+1 monitoring I now do with passive K-ROK's - I have 5 of the K-ROK's and a Hafler 10" powered sub, and would like to be able to (for stereo only) have another "opinion" in the form of something like the MSP-10's -

Finally, the actual question: Have you listened to KRK's V8's, preferably in an A/B with the MSP 10's ? If so, I would be curious as to your comparison. After hearing the HR824's, I'm not really interested. I want something that tells me where the problems are. So far, I've not found a place within driving distance that carries both, hence the question.

Thanks for the review so far - it's already got me thinking that the MSP 10's could be an option to the V8's... Steve

No, I have not compared the two, unfortunately. The MSP10's were kind of a "good price buy", since I got the pair really really cheap and one if them was brand new direct from Yamaha, and I really didnt do much comparing with anything. I just took an almost blind chance and bought them pretty much. So far I dont regret it. I do hear things in them I didnt hear clearly before.
FOr the record, I do like the HR824's though, so we may be in different ballparks. These dont really sound like HR824's, they seem to sound a bit more accurate to me. But again, not side by side comparison, just memory, which isnt always reliable.
Peace.

Thought I would help you out... here it is in c++

for (int x = 0; x < 1000; x++) {
cout << "Zallen knows shit" << endl; }

But holy crud thats old basic... thats like C=64 basic. They dont use line numbers anymore :p

Sorry Tubedude... related content:

Knightfly: those KRK V8s seem like a solid speaker, and I know blue bear swears by them. Kevlar cones... mmmmmm, nice.

Jeez tubesteak, the guy uses sonic maximizers. Please help stop the madness. next thing you know he'll be normalizing everything.

yeah I know that's really old basic. I quit programming around the time pascal came out. I fully remeber the joy of using the first mcintoshes. back when macs were actually decent. aaah, the ancient days of logos, assembly, BASIC and pascal. I'd guess they still use assembly? it's been many years and hundreds of hits of acid later . . .

Please take the BS to the cave thread as Tubedude has very politely requested, several times. Thanks.

Tube, Gunther, thanks for responding - I know Bruce really digs his V8's, and I've been pretty happy with the K-ROK's, just wish I could get both pairs in a room together somewhere - Man, where's that winning Lotto ticket when ya really need it? Then I could just get EVERYTHING I still need all at the same time, hire Rupert and 12 of his closest friends to sort it all out and maybe, just once, go into the studio and just BLAST... (sigh)

Thanks again guise... Steve

When searching for my monitors I have heard both the MSP-10 and the V8's .. but not in the same room... the music store had set up the KrK's in the synth/VS/SIAB room just next to the 'studio booth'... The V8 are good, but not my taste of speaker.
I liked Dynaudio and Genelec more (Gennies are a LOT cheaper in europe then in the states; Mackies vice versa) and went with a pair of 1031's.

I guess I can recall the KrK's to have a 'different' midrange sound.

Good luck,
Herwig
