Ok..
STEREO IMAGE... not quite as strong as I expected, but pretty good. I like an exageratted stereo spread, like the expensive paradigms have, but I guess these are natural in that respect, so thats good I guess.
High end.. seems very smooth, they dont seem as overly bright as I expected them to be, either. I really like titanium dome tweeters(which is why I like the Paradigms too), which was a big selling point for me. Though they dont really seem bright, turning the high end up on the monitors output channel REALLY comes on strong and hard and fierce. They seem pretty flat to me in the top end.
Low end.... Nice, tight, not earth shattering lows, but the lows are focused and have plenty of chest pounding... maybe a TAD hyped, but it might be my listening station, too... pretty close to walls, on 3 sides.
Mids... Forward. Never really knew what forward mids meant until I heard NS-10's. Kinda eeky on some stuff with NS-10's. These arent the same kind of forward... its like there is forward-harsh, and forward-smooth, these swing to the smoother side of the two. The mids I think are what are gonna make my mixes shine better. I dont know why, but it works. So far. Time will tell yet.
But the mids are weird for the 1st 10 minutes, and I was about to send them back, but suddenly, pow... its like things sound like they SHOULD.
Fatigue... Not enough time at once on them yet, but they seem fine, not as fatiguing as the 20/20's, and no where near as bad as NS10's, for sure. These just dont sound like NS10's.
Volume... gets pretty loud and stays solid and clear. So much so that I'll catch myself having them super loud, and have to turn down, only to find them loud again. In this aspect, they jam. I have yet to see the red clip light come on. More on this later, too.
I think these deserve way more of a chance in everyones lineup than what they are given, for sure. I also think the whole NS10 and Yamaha thing ruined thier chances for survival, and that these are better cabs.
More to come...
