Yamaha Motif ES with mLAN16E

Has anyone tried expanding Motif ES with mLAN16E yet?
Since I don't own Motif (yet) I am very interested to hear from brave people on the following:
1. How would you rate the quality of Motif ES/mLAN16E combination as a firewire computer audio interface?
How does its quality compare to well-known popular soundcards (M-audio, RME, Lynx etc)?
2. Since mLAN16E expanded Motif can be used as a DSP sound processor, how good are Motif built-in sound effects as compared to popular native plugins and DSP cards?

Still trying to have someone give an answer.
For those who may not know, adding mLAN16E expansion to Motif ES changes it into multichannel firewire audio/MIDI computer interface. It also becomes word clock and DSP processor. All for additional $300. So I think it is interesting to know what level of quality this combination provides.

I own several Yamaha products, but the Motif is not one of them. I CAN tell you that for all the R+D, hype and promotion Yamaha have been doing for mLAN technology in the last 4 or 5 years, I doubt strongly that they would bring out a product that had a serious flaw or didn't perform as advertised as a computer interface.

On the other hand, the Motif rack has SERIOUS problems playing multi-timbral parts --- this seemingly simple feat causes timing glitches and even phantom program changes. I have witnessed this with my own ears, and it wasn't pretty.

As far as the quality of the effects, I would assume they would be based on a very similar set of algorithms to the FX in my AW16g, and hence would be quite workable but nothing to compete with top line products from Lexicon, TC Electronic, Eventide, etc.

If you have a relatively high-end music products store in your area, have them set up a unit that you can hear...for the price you will be paying if you buy, it will be worth their while.
