Yamaha EX5

Almost embarrassed to admit that I bought this board back in '98 or so, and have barely used it since :o Any bona-fide EX5 users out there... and if so, are you using that thing for anything other than a table these days? :D

I'd like to get some decent sounds out of it, before deciding to sell a kidney and buy a rackmount Triton/Motif and just use it as a keyboard.... anything I might try? Just trying to get away from the "cheapish" preset sounds, and find a way to create some useable sounds.

Umm, you have one of the most versatile synths Yamaha ever created in front of you. In some aspects it is still superior to newer gear like the Motif.

I suggest you do some research on the internet and find youself some EX series sites. www.synthzone.com would be a good start
 
I've been gigging and recording with the EX-5 for a few years now. I've managed to get some of the best screaming and funky organ sounds out of it compared to any other keyboard I've used.
