Is PA 9 compatible with XP? It was bundled with the Aardvark DP2496 soundcard that I purchased.
I recently reformatted my computer, and somewhere along the line after I installed PA9, my OS slowed down a lot...mostly noticeable in startup. I had this problem before and is why I reformatted. The system seemed to work okay after I did the minimum install. The effects weren't included in the install, so I reinstalled without uninstalling PA9. Before checking if everything was working correctly, I installed CounterStrike
Everything seemed to work fine until I rebooted to check and see if all was well. This is where the problems began. It took more than 2 times longer to boot, and there was some noticeable lag in other programs.
I think it's safe to conclude that one of these 2 programs doesn't like XP. Or is it that my card doesn't recognize the effects that I installed with the software?
I'm going to try to back track and try to see where the problem lies. First I'll uninstall CounterStrike, then test. If that doesn't work, then I'll uninstall PA9. If that doesn't work, I'll reformat and throw CS and PA9 out the window! Should I stick with the minimum installation of PA9, or can you let me know what the "safe" components are in the Advanced install menu.
My system is a Dell(aarg!) Dimension 8200 P4 at 1.8GHz
512 RDRAM
40gig Maxtor hard drive
Geforce 2 video card
Intgrated sound
Please respond ASAP and potentially save me tons of time. Thanks.
