just wanted to say that I just got a 12/4 and I'm not too impressed with the pre's. I returned an audiobuddy to MF and got this. I think the audiobuddy pre's sound better. I don't think this mixer is bad in any way so far but if you only need pre's, I would check out an audiobuddy if I were you cause it's only $80.

well the pres are only part of my consideration.
i would only use budget pres like these for things like scracth tracks, or for live use.
one of the reason(maybe the biggest one) is just to have a hardware volume knob for my monitors. sad...i know.

I think the MG series is the best under Mackie boards. Beats Behringer by a long shot, and anything else out there in the price range. Im not saying this because I'm selling an MG mixer in the classifieds. As a matter of fact, if you wanted to buy it, I wouldn't sell it to you just because I don't want you to think I'm just trying to sell you out. But if you can get an MG from someone else for a fair price, DEFINATELY go for it. I couldn't tell you about the FX's, but I'm sure they're good.

same here with the volume knob thing. I got the mg mixer for versatility over just having a stereo pre. Don't get me wrong, this seems like a good little mixer but I guess I was hoping the pre's would be a little better than the audiobuddy. I have'nt tried a behringer mixer and I don't think I would due to some of the quality control problems I have read about so the mg was probably my best option for the money I paid..........did'nt mean to try to turn you off from an mg.

i wouldn't expect the mg pres to sound better than an audio buddy. i mean, the audio buddy is 80-90 bucks for two pre amps and nothing else. the mg 10/2 mixer is 100 bucks and has 4 mic pres + a plethora of knobs and routing options.
anyways, back to the top for this post - please let me know if anyone has a used mg10/2 or mg 8/2fx. any yamaha mixer will most likely do for that matter.

Just wanted to tell you that upon posting my mixer on ebay, i noticed a few 8/2's up there for 100 bucks or less.

no longer looking to buy the mixer; scored a deal on a mackie 1202 for $40 bucks.
not the VLZ-model, but still a damn good deal for a small, well-made mixer.
