I believe I have been. The trend being, people coming to me instead of them. Just had a guy come in last night with a copy of the stuff he did at the other place. He damn near shit his pants at the comparison. They are going to do a 9 song album with me starting on Sunday. :D

Awesome man!

That's how I got my start in recording, and now I'm opening a studio.

the end of that wasn't as loud as the beginning. i don't think you used enough compression.

Nice one Donkey! But you forgot to mention the low end rumble the RRRRR in the middle is causing. He may have to retrack the whole thing.

That is a "peak". A peak is bad. A low-end peak may prevent his frustration from being excreted at maximum RMS. Frustration is a strong genre, which requires maximum RMS excretion. Har-bal excels! Grab the peak with your mouse and pull it down. See? Ease is had with the moused peak-pull. Maximum RMS is now not unpossible.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Here is the response with a high pass filter applied at 60Hz, going through multi-band compression and limited to an RMS value of -3 dBFS:

█████████████████████████████████████████

That's much more consistent, and got rid of all thost nasty transients that prevent me from getting a commercially acceptable level!

I can tell just by looking at the graphic that it sounds good now. Which maximizer plugin did you use? I have to get it so I can master my own mixes!

I set the waves multi-band comp to the "too much compression" preset and my L2 to -25dBFS.

Who says it's hard to get mixes loud?
