Jack White. Ye gads I hate the White Stripes. I like Grunge/Garage Rock but man their stuff just sucks.
Billy Corgan is just a nasalier version of Mick Jager, but I like both, Mick has a great voice on some songs. (Angie, Beast of Burden, Honky Tonk Woman and all those songs from like 68-72)
I'm honestly surprised no one complained about Robert Plant in here (though I skimmed most of this) I like Robert's voice, but I know there are a lot of people who won't listen to Zepp because of it.
 
Plant brings up the issue of sounding unique and being good otherwise. Though his sound may have been technically "bad," it was influential. Much like Dylan, he may not sound pretty, but it's hard not to respect him.

good point. He sounded OK w/ Led Zep....it wasn't till he released some solo stuff in the 80's that I realized I hated his voice. I can't imagine anyone else singing "Black Dog" though.

hm. when i was a much younger man, i dated a serious singer. I asked her about axl rose once. She said "what do YOU think?" I said "I dunno...its funny...i like the music, I find him adequate, I dunno...its not horrible, but its not great either. Its kinda weird their getting so big." She said she asked her voice coach about him once, and the guy said Axl was not a great singer, but...he did many different TYPES of singing. None of them were particularly good, merely passable...so, his big claim to fame, at least early on, was he could "sort of" sing anything, even if none of his "voices" were great.

Theres a certain logic to that, somehow. After a couple albums, youre "style" turns into a "rut", kind of.

i DID get seriously tired of that whole "eye yi yi yi" thing, LMAO. FWIW, he just way over used it...i have detected that damn "eye yi yi" thing a couple of other times in other singers and bands, here and there. Is there a proper word or term for that damn eye yi yi thing? I never know what to call it.

Someone said Barbara Streisand, GOOD ONE! (I have one word for you..."yentl", lmao...and yoko one (shudder) glad someone finally hid the microphone from HER. If only john lennon would have enjoyed balling someone who could sing...lmao...)

Worst singer ever......hmm......I'd have to say the singer from Cinderella. That dude is just pathetic.
 
Billy Corgan is as bad as I've ever heard live. They must have to go through torture in the studio to make that guy even passable. Anthony Keidis has horrible pitch as well. Finally, I have to say that as much as I love Dylan's 60s stuff, his voice is terrible. Anybody seen him live in the last 10 years? If you can make out a lyric, I'll give you a prize.
 
I almost forgot Neil Young. Another guy who's music I like, but could anybody say he can sing. I still remember my college room mate singing "Old Man" with his nose plugged. Hilarious.

I reckon Jimi Hendrix would have to be up there somewhere. IMO prooves that yes, it is indeed very hard to play lead guitar whilst singing at the same time...

Other than that, I'd say Neil Young. Only thing that gets him off the hook is that his tunes are good enough.

no-one would be a decent replacement for freddie mercury, but the 'new queen' lineup really aint that bad, you know. it surprised me.
they'd stand up as a decent band in their own right, but they should have just written new stuff or changed their name rather than churn out songs that everyone associates with mercury. 'Queen' without mercury is like Van Halen without Eddie.
 
I've heard the new Queen described as "the best Queen cover band ever, so good that they have two of the original members."
 
Tim McGraw is pretty bad, kind of like the sound of someone strangling a chicken. I saw Ozzy live years ago and he was bad, but he didn't sound all the great in the studio anyway. Stevie Nicks is another. Kind of sounds like a goat.

But he does at least have some of his own identity. Good bad, right or wrong there aren't too many people that sing like him.
