The worst singers EVER are those R&B/Hip hop shitheads who think every song verse has to be split into several hundred syllables at a different pitch level. I think it's just a way to mask the fact they can'tcarry a tune in a bucket. Just sing the song, god damn it!!

...word...

I'm easily the worst, modified or not. I only do instrumentals now that I realise it
Nah - you're second worst! I am truly awful - if I can get within 2 tones of the note I am trying to hit I consider it a success! :D :D

What's even worse is that I write the songs and generally the vocal melody and the singer in my duo makes me sing the songs so she can understand the melody. I think she makes me do it as she is a sadist but she has learnt not to laugh too much......! :D

You sound like an unhappy camper who is upset because your shit stinks :p:p:p:p:p:p.............

Why is that? Why do they go for every note in the scale?

You hear them prattle on about how they are influenced by Marvin Gaye and Aretha and yadda yadda yadda..... Those performers that they hold in high regard are mostly trying not to over-sell the vocal. That's not something you're gonna get from a contemporary R&B singer.

Actually, that may be the problem in itself they just "over-sell" in general.

I actually find that the guys are the worst for shameful acrobatics. Bloody Usher......

Bob Dylan is one of the greatest singers of our time. He has even won various awards (specifically for singing) to further back that up.

He can't be bad...he won an award!

Give me a break! Didn't Milli Vanilli also win a grammy?

Milli Vanilli win an award? Not sure about that. Not a big fan.

Now Bob Dylan I can tell you about.

Big deal you ask ? I can tell you in 1972 the "World's Greatest Vocalist" award by the NME Musicians poll (which is a BIG DEAL) went as such.

1. John Lennon
2. Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, Queen)
3. Bob Dylan

You can verify that in the NME (New Musical Express) archives.

He's won many other awards as well. (I think more than Milli Vanilli, but only jfrog could verify that accurately).

(As jfrog wrote his Milli Vanilli post, he nudged his friend next to him (who is also a 12 year old 8th grader) and said "Huh Huh get it? Milli Vanilli ? This post is going to rock !")

Actually, anyone who was around in 1990 remembers that MV won a grammy for best new artist, only to have it stripped away a couple of days later because they had nothing to do with the album - they only lip sync'd the performances.

and, for what it's worth, I was actually closer to being 12 years old when the artists you mentioned won the NME awards.

There can be only one...

Yoko Ono -

a singer so awful everyone blocks her out of their minds

Ah man, I wish I'd started posting to this thread earlier. I have so much to say. I actually like singers who have "bad" voices (Corgan, Geddy Lee), as long as they're interesting and unique. The ones I can't stand are the people who have bad voices and then try to sound like everyone else who has the same bad voice (Nickleback, Puddle of Dum, etc.)

As for worst live singer (remember? that was one of the stipulations at the beginning of the thread.) I would probably say Raine Maida (sp?) from Our Lady Peace. They're one of my favorite bands ever, but dam! That man cannot sing live.

And since we've named most of them anyway (Geddy, Raine, Celine, Nickleback), I nominate all the rest of the Canadian singers who we've forgotten: Shania Twain, Sum 41, and Arrogant Worms.

I second VomithatSteve's post.

And I like that he did not bash Dylan.

(Bob pays me big bucks to defend his honor in these forums).

Wait a second.

Paul Rodgers was in Queen? Hasn't it just been the same 4 guys in that band forever? That can't be right. Why the hell would they need him? All of them sing. I don't own a copy of every Queen record there ever was, so I can't be perfectly sure. But that just can't be right. I don't believe it.

I think it just happened recently. I don't see Paul singing Freddie's part very well.

Paul joined Queen for the current tour just recently, he's never recorded with them as far as I know.

Ah. OK.

I hadn't heard about that.

Hmmmm. Not a great choice, in my opinion; not for that band anyway.

One of the most famous and worst ever sopranos in the world (sharing the wealth of knowledge now lol) was Florence Foster Jenkins. She hired out carnigie hall invited all her friends and proceeded to sing pieces such as the queen of the night aria by Mozart. She successfully managed to avoid most of the actual notes...and the shrieking was spectacular lol I know you guys prolly dont go in for classical but if you ever wanna hear some so so soooo wrong music download a copy of it. It's an experience lol

As tragic as it is to say. Queen should just be allowed to die. No one else can be Freddie Mercury. He had one of the best rock voices ever. The odds of someone being able to emulate him well just aren't good.

You must've missed my earlier post about good ol' Florence! (see page 1 of this thread)
