The latest recording is an old song, written in the 90s, but never performed in front of anyone up to now. It languished in my head all this time! Just your usual dirge about domestic violence(!) Came out a bit more upbeat than I'd imagined, and I'm glad of that. I think it helps to get the message over better.

Lyrics

WORLD'S APART
(Verse 1)
She likes the silent treatment,
Too bad she gets it every night.
Her beauty can't be beaten
Unless she's putting up a fight.

(Verse 2)
She has a small confession:
Again she's walked into the door.
You'd think she'd learn her lesson
Instead of coming back for more.

(Chorus)
One hemisphere sleeps soundly while she lies awake.
She could leave but that's a risk she'd never take.
The mental torture is the hardest thing to bear.
She's falling deep into despair.

(Verse 3)
She has a love that's twisted.
Still, better than no love at all.
A life that once existed,
But now she's talking to the wall.

(Chorus)

(Instrumental)

(Verse 4)
We'll never be divided
That much was clear from the start.
Just like when worlds collided
But now it's more like world's apart.
(Chorus)

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" I like it. I would listen to that on repeat until the moon comes up, that it. Beware the moon. (Mods are eyeing me up)
Good clear sound. Joyful. Catchy. I think you know this is good and just want to see us liking it. That's my plan for this place, anyway. I'm off to play darts now.

Thank you. Good American Werewolf references too! 🐺🌕

Cool, I like it! Happy sounding songs with dark lyrics and heavy songs with heartfelt lyrics are some of my favorites!

As far as mixing, I’d make those acoustic guitars slightly less bright. Also consider making the backing vocals a little thinner sounding (cut lows and low mids) to avoid the midrange buildup of all those vocals. Alternatively, could back them off a dB or 2.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing!

Nice! Sounds good! I like that track. Cool guitar sounds, excellent lyrics. :thumbs up: Reminds me a little of some of the power pop stuff that STP has done (I'm a big fan).

@Mick Doobie mentioned the other day (elsewhere at this forum) - and he's right - that immediately drawing comparisons to something else can/could be considered not cool or even disrespectful. And I know what he means. And agree. But it also can be considered - or meant anyway - as a compliment. I meant the STP reference in a complimentary way/:-)

I like the song plenty. The last stanza sticks in my craw a little bit though; The song is about a "she" struggling with DV but the last verse leads with "we'll," which suggest you are the abuser. Not sure if you meant to do that.

Well spotted! Yes that was deliberate. To put ambiguity in there. Rather than being the holier than thou observer I was being for the rest of the song. The verse got cut anyway, but I was aiming for some conflict, questions there, back when I wrote it.
