Hey gang!

Been quite a while, but I've been very busy with the 3D world, and working on finalizing my sophomore CD effort, called "Heaven"....

This is one I just finished mixing (well, re-mixing for the 43rd time). Would love some feedback...

It's supposed to be very sparse and "embryonic", like you're a teeny thing in a huge empty space, scared, not knowing what's next for you....

Instrumentation is three different synth parts and classical guitar...

Despair - hifi stream

Thanks in advance!

Sounds good to me. Very big and full....like you described it. Lots of space. Lots of sound. Nice mix.

My first listen was on my laptop speakers and it sounded really big and full. Surprised me really cause they're pretty lousy speakers as you can imagine. Next listen was on my PC speakers - JBL two-ways (not bad quality speakers really). Sounded even more full and rich, with the added bottom end. You captured the classical guitar really well and the reverb/echo are very effective. Definitely the focal point of the mix but not too much so. The keyboards are nice filling up the background, swirling and spacey as you said. Good effects there as well. The keyboards carry the tune along and give it color. It is a simple tune in its content but big and full at the same time. Would fit well in a theatrical environment, with a focus on the soundscape.
Would be nice to know how you recorded the guitar and got it so big and fat.
Very nice work...

Thanks Dog and ido!

The guitar is actually DI; run through a Zoom RFX-1000 multi box for the echo, printed during acquisition. The noise reduction, 'verb and EQ are done in post, I use Adobe Audition...

I love the synth and sound effects... great movement and atmosphere.

What's the chattering noise?

So cool and smooth, nice job.

The rumbly chattery thing is part of a patch on my Triton, it's some sort of "monster/creature" thing... I thought it sounded ominous and cool.. :)

Thanks dude! :)

that's really weird because it won't stream from that site either.. I can't DL without joining.. I'll try again another time..

It reminds me of the opening sequence to Cygnus X-1.

Well, you can't download either way even if you join; I don't have the song set for download capability, stream-only. :( Very odd that you're having trouble; Artistlaunch is usually trouble free. I belong to neither soundclick nor NWR...

Supercreep, forgive my ignorance, what is Cygnus X-1?

Excellent acoustic and full synth sound, this is maximum relaxing. Reminds me of some of the atmospheric music I'd put on while writing stories, for certain moods.

Mixwise, everything sounded good to a snake's small ears.. just look forward to hearing some more ;)

I don't know why I can't play this.. I never have a problem at nowhere radio or even soundclick.. maybe next time man..

I did have trouble opening this for a few days...Finally heard it now. The sound is phenonominal, man. Nice mood...I was waiting for the band to come in, but I realised it's a nice mood setter. Great sound.

Thanks Rami!

Figured it'd take you by surprise a bit...

Don't let Enya sing on it!
Really psych.
Really good.
Impressively CLEAN as well.
The acouctic guitar melody is nice as well as clear.
Being a Hawkwind head I was waiting for a spacerockout at the end - sorry.
Extra credit for the subtle use of effects & panning.
Excellent stuff.
Cheers

HAHAHAH! Thanks Ray... :) I'm glad you found it clean, it was hell getting the noice out of it; especially the guitar track....

This sounds excellent. I'm taken by the sound of the acoustic, its something I wish I could achieve basically. What kind of music are you into, influences I mean? This sounds like some stuff I listen to.

Would you believe it's a classical with a pickup, direct plug? :)

Influentially, I'm mostly from the Pat Metheny, Jeff Lorber, Chuck Mangione, Spyro Gyra, Bob James, Yellowjackets, Tim Weisberg, Earl Klugh, etc. camp. This particular piece has its roots in the "As Falls Wichita..." and "Offramp" Pat Metheny releases. Other stuff on this CD is solo piano, and more ambient soundscapey stuff. My wife is into WIlliam Orbit, and I think some of that may have rubbed off on me accidentally... :)
