Hey raindrops:
Not a whole lot of choices if you are limiting yourself to around 40 bucks...There are a few Audio Technicas in this range, nothing else, really...I noted that you used the European sign for dollars, (Or did you mean pounds?..That is sooo confusing!!!). check out http://www.musiciansfriend.com
They have those mics in your price range.
Personally-I say bite the bullet a little & go with the Shure SM-57 or SM-58.
Hope you find what you want!

hey yeah thanks guys, i did mean pounds
i really want to know whether the bark vocal mic will sound like a piece of shit or not, i have a boss vf-1 with microphone modeling if ya think that will make a differecne. im not really up for spending £90 (POUNDS) on a mic, i have so many things on my 'to buy' list, i dont sing myself so i would rather spend far less, i dontl want it to saound like complete shit though, but i ainbt going in for like top quality mic proffessional, or even ok i cant be bothered to write any more but i think you get the idea, thanks dfor any replies in advance

cool cool cool

Hey, why don't you check out the AKG D880 mics at Dawson's Music Supplies?! They're doing a special on them at £29 a piece. I just got the batch I ordered and they sound real nice. They have a very nice lift on the mids and the highs, like 3 - 6k. I don't remember the exact frequency response, so check out the specs at the AKG site. They also have AKG D65 mics for the same price, but I think these are tailored more for miking up things like amps.

Have a look at http://www.dawsons.co.uk/

They have those deals only on the internet site under the mics section. Check them out as they sure pack a punch.

Adam.

cool ta thanks i think i might get one of dem, do you know if it is offer or if they are obout to run out, cause im going to need to save up for the pultry sum of £30
i assume they dont come with a lead, that kinda adds 30% onto the price again

thanks

It's hard to say whether the mics are a special offer/deal or not. But when I was looking through my copy of "Sound On Sound" this month, I noticed that the price listed is £39. Yet, a few days later I bought 4 at the site online for £29 each!

They could be a deal for online shoppers only, who knows?! Btw, if you want to order a cable along with the mic, they have a list-box for cable and stands below it. Have a look at the link I put in my last message and check out the mic listing and the cables. If you do get a cable, I strongly urge you to get an XLR to XLR cable, as an XLR to 1/4" doesn't seem to sound as good.

Adam.
