I just finally joined the rest of the recording community and recieved my shure sm-57/sm-58 today. First impressions? I love how the sm-57 sounds on my amp...esp. cleans, for some reason...they just have a wider sound than my digital ref. mics. And i love how the sm-58 sounds on my voice, and i think i might use it to record vox over my mxl 990..until i get my mxl 960. I tried the sm57 on my voice but wasnt a big fan...too narrow....weird, its wide with guitar, but narrow with vocals...I also notice it realllly takes a lot of gain to get the 57 going. Tomorrow im gonna try some different placement techniques with the 57 on my amp, but i love everything so far..now all i need is my condenser, delta0404, and a dmp3.
