"Withdrawal Symptoms"......

Yeah Gorty, rocks! The drums sound good man, they fool me. Tone is sweet and playing is the usual Gorty standard.
Just thought I'd jump in with any songwriting ideas, sounds like you have three main sections/feels
intro, then
I 0:20-0:40 II 0:40-0:53 III 0:53-1:21
and it goes I II III II I II III I
I think it'd sound cool if you extended the second III (egyptian part) into a full out rockin' longer solo, then I can hear some long sustained notes near the end of the solo with the intro rhythm building behind, and synth would sound sweet there too, give it a dark vibe/mysterious/ambiant vibe
Then right after that quiet to build pull into the final II (chorus part) but much stronger than before, I'm thinking with a bunch of harmonies and maybe even a higher octave thrown on top. Then keep repeating that with a fade instead... and maybe even have the mysterious synth start to not only play chords, but also the guitar rhythm too.
Anyway, just some ideas to extend this, cool piece r00 dude :cool:

I dig your analysis involving the structure and how each piece can be segregated into it's own little block. Some great ideas in there SnakeDude, I like the extended III section and add a rockin solo idea!

Hey Gort!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell you doing posting a tune when you know I'm gone????? :mad:

Cool playing man....tones seem to fit what you have well, but the playing is very tasty. Both clean and dirty tones mesh well. Drums don't bother me a bit......you filled the tune out nicely with them man....as far as structure, find what you think needs some work, and add or subtract from it. If you like certain melodies more, extend those...but don't cut it up too bad. It's a fun listen. :D
 
Nice tune! everything is pretty much said.
I'd have only one suggestion.

It gets a tad numbing when there is soloing throughout the song...imho.

Soooo, it COULD be that a break in soloing, maybe a couple of rhythm strokes in between, and then into a new rising with the solo??

I love the solo'ing all the way through. I hope you keep it r00!! I love to hear an axe get it's full use, when someone knows how to use it. :D Why not add some ryhthm strokes as Jouni suggested, along with the great solo'ing? :confused: Not removing the solo'ing anywhere, just adding the ryhthm in places for flavour.

It would help in the metamorphising of the song, into sections as Snake suggested....give some more depth, and yet still be a great solo'ing showcase and tune. There ain't nothing wrong with showcasing some good lead playing....I love that stuff!!! In fact, I am one of those people, who has always loved to sing with a lead guitar...but most musicians think they aren't supposed to do that while the singer is on one....or maybe the singer doesn't like it...I DO!! The axe can set off something inside me when I sing, like no other instrument...not even the piano. I always want to sing, when everyone says to shut up. :eek: BUT IT'S FUN DAMMIT!! Singing along with the lead axe. :D

I would love to hear real drums on this, to add more emotion in the tom rolls, and some snappy snare pops.

Ass kicking song in the making r00!! :cool:























Oh yeah....don't forget to send me those chords r00!!! :D :p
 
Very nice. I like the mix of guitar tones. The whole thing sets a cool mood that draws you in. The left rhythm guitar has a beautiful tone. The main lead is just a little upper mid-ish, but hell, I like mellow guitars, what can I say? :D ...

I hear what you are saying about a break in the soloing, it is always an issue when recording instrumentals. The opposite of having too much lead guitar is too much chording without anything happening. It's a fine line and a very good point you have Jouni.

Thanx to you for your positive comments and your feedback! I will get you those chords when I get home and run through the progression. They are some very basic chords, nothing too difficult! :eek: :D

The reason I use my guitar as a voice is because you wouldn't want to hear my human voice in attempt at singing!! :eek:

Hey Tim,

I am glad you like the mix of tones, I always try to pay particular attention to how the different textures meld together.
The clean tones were provided with my 1989 Fender Stratocaster, it always delivers a beautiful warm, clean tone that just requires very little tweaking.

I got a chance to listen, nice tune. Are the clean chords high on the neck on your Fender or on one of the Ibanez guitars, Is the lead on one of the Les Pauls? The leads kind of have a bit of a Ritchie Blackmore vibe to them, a bit of an Eastern sound in the notes. ;)

Sorry I see you explained the guitars in some previous posts, I'm getting too lazy to read !~
 
Been busy - sorry haven't been able to listen much this week.

Rhythm guitar on left sounds like a keyboard - nice ring.

Leads have that distinctive sound - very sweet.

Drums are cool - big and thumping - good arrangement.

Playing is superb as always.

The waiting was well worth it - looking forward to more in the future, meantime I'll download this for my drive to work....

Hey Tony,

I recorded this before I bought my Les Pauls. The clean chords are all played in the open position except the A chord during the verses which is played as you suggested high on the neck in the 14th position and the lead as well as the chords were all played on my 1989 Fender Stratocaster Deluxe.
The clean chords were recorded by plugging straight into my Boss BR1600 and the lead line was my Laney 100watt Valve amp and Laney Quad box mic'd up using an Shure SM57.
