Wiring a 3-way crossover to 2-way

I have some PA practice room speakers that were 3 ways and got completely blown. I need to replace them quick and cheap. I was wondering if I can forgo the middle speaker and wire the low and mid leads both to the fullrange 12"? It doesn't occur to me that this will break any rules of phase or what-have-you because there shouldn't be much/any frequency overlap. Just thought I'd come in for a second opinion. I know that I should really just buy new crossovers or shell out for new mid speakers but we don't have much cash and need this quick for our practices.

Thanks

I wouldn't think there is a problem, after all we do have 2 ways that work fine.

Going for it

The only problem I really see is that there might be some so-so roll offs in the gap between low/mid that have a minor effect on quality. I'm going to go for it when my speakers come in and I will let you know how it turns out.

If the 12" speakers are truly full range, wire them up direct to the input (skip the crossover) - just use the crossover to feed the tweeters/horns.

dont do it!!! the way a crossover works (oversimplification) is to reverse the phase of the next section at those freqs that are common... so for the entire section of common freqs will at athe least give a huge hole... bite the bullet and replace to blown speaker Xover or whatever... a good place for generic speaker parts is parts express
