Hello all, I have a small forum for audio recording, but it also covers various topics such as guitar, band promotion, and more. The forum is very small at the moment. It only has about 20 members. I'm working on ways on improving the size of my forum.

I figured, why not give something to my forum members. So, I decided to give a random member of my forum a $300 present. At the moment, you have a 1 in 5 chance on winning. The only rule for the present is it has to be something related to recordings, music, or band stuff. You won't be winning a $300 gift certificate to McDonalds. The only requirement is that you are a member of the recordingreview.com forum. You don't even have to post, but I'd like you to!

If you are a drummer, you could surely use $300 in cymbals or a new snare drum.

A guitar player could use a couple new pedals. You'd be amazed at what a $300 Agile guitar can do.

A recording guy could pick up a few dynamic mics for $300.

If you are interested in joining the audio forum, go to http://www.recordingreview.com and click on "Audio Forum".

PS. I'll be "paying" my forum members to post. Everytime you post, you get more "marks". You'll be able to trade "marks" in for microphones, magazine subscriptions, etc. I just figured I would try to pay back my visitors for posting on my site.

Hey Brandon,

If you want me to come post on your sorry-ass romper room site, you're going to have to talk to my agent.

I don't do $300 gigs anymore.

Right now, Dragon's got me locked in for 5,000 more posts, and it's moreless a exclusive deal in the $10K + range. But I'm sure my agent might be willing to discuss a thousand-post deal for around 500 bones upfront. We can talk further after that. PM me if you're interested.

I see no giveaway rules anywhere. For example,

- when and how is the winner picked?

- when and how is the nature of the prize agreed upon?

- how and where is the prize picked up or delivered?

- is the $300 limit before or after sales taxes, or are sales taxes even involved?

- is the prize worth exactly $300. What if what I select comes to a total of $289; can I have the remaining $11 in cash? And vice-versa; if it comes out to $319, can I get it if I pay the $19 difference?

- does my asking these questions automatically privately exclude me from winning?

You are frankly opening yourself and us to potential inadvertant trouble if you don't spell out the details.

Oh, and a few followup questions as well...

- on what are you basing the prices of the gear? Are you talking MSRP or real purchase price? And if its real purchase price, who's?

- once you get folks registered and increase the number of Google ad hits and get their e-mail addresses, will we hear about this contest ever again?

Well, Glen...I think it's safe to say you're already banned....:)

Let's see, that's 10K posts for 10K dollars. Figuring the time that it takes to monitor the board, scan the threads, read the posts, type in and proof the replies and go to an obscure thread and buy some chicklets, you're lucky to be making $3.50 an hour.

You're right; this is not a business in which one lives large. :D

OTOH, you're making more than I am doing this...

G.

I'd rather make $300 by doing a couple of gigs vs. posting on his new forum (what's wrong with hr.com/bbs???) Much more fun, and there's usually food involved. If Brandon can promise food (punch and pie!) I might consider it, but probably not!

Well yeah...Pie changes everything....And punch, I mean fugettaboutit.

C'mon, guys. $300....that's a lot of beer. Beer is recording "equipment", isn't it? I never work without it myself... :D

I don't believe that he realizes that he could be arrested for fraud when one of his many phoney members supposedly wins the prize.

BRANDON: "And the winner of the $300 grand prize is ... me.

Second runner-up : Wouldn't ya know it. Me, again. Well, golly gee."

He does now...it came up on his forum :)

Even if it is on the up-and-up and he's just too naiive to realize he's dropping his pants on the Internet by offering a drawing with more holes in it than a piece of acoustic ceiling tile, I gotta give the guy props as a gambler; he's betting $300 that he can get enough Google ad clicks via this promotion to actually make a profit. I'll be more than glad to bet him even money against that.

Of course even if he did, that still isn't going to help him when an 8-yr-old wins the raffle because he doesn't screen his contestants in any way, and the parents come after him.

Did you notice how even the name echos? Now that you are a registered member Glen, good luck in the contest.
