that's way ahead of what many start with. You should be fine with it, except for the recording software. What type will you use?

Software Options:Cakewalk Sonar 4 - $300
Cakewalk Sonar Home Studio XL - $160
Tracktion - $150
Steinberg Cubase SE - $100
Cakewalk Software Sonar Home Studio - $100

Interface/Soundcard:M Audio Delta 1010 - $400

Also consider these:
Mixer:Spirit/ Soundcraft E6 8-Channel E Series - $320

Mics: AT3035 ($200) / SP C1 ($200) / SP B1 ($100)
Also Amazon have a mic pack (MXL 990/991) for only $100, which might interest you

How much have you got to spend on the software alone?

i can get any software program for free, so just name the best stuff that u think we should get

Ok i've just had a look on the net;

PreSonus Firepod FireWire Audio Interface with Mic Preamps
8 Discrete Microphone Preamps (+60dB gain) w/ Trim Control
8 Analog Mic/Line Inputs, 2 Instrument Inputs
Cubase LE Audio Production Software Included
$599 + Free shipping + Free HP4 Headphone amp
Here

Than you can use the Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer to monitor, so that eliminates the crappy pre amps on the behringer. There fore you run your microphones straight into the Firepod.

Firepod $600
UB802 $50 - zzounds
Dx4 $150 - zzounds
AKG K44 $24 - music 123

ok thanks alot for lookin around for us, but is there a preamp cheaper than that because we really cant afford that right now.

o yeah? can ya get me some while your at it....NOT!!!..arrrg matey! :rolleyes:

Maybe something like this is for you, Lexicon Omega Studio USB Audio Interface . It's all in one, interface/mixer and it comes with Steinberg’s Cubase LE, all through USB.
$300

Than all you need is;
Monitors: MAudio dx4 -$150
Mics/Popfilter: MXL990/991 -$100 + $25
Headphones: AKG K44 -$24

You can think about getting other mics, once you can afford them.

TOTAL :$599
