G5's are a complete waste of money at this point. PowerPCs will no longer be supported by OS X once 10.6 comes out this summer. The G5s also ran extremely hot and use LOUD fans. They sound like jet engines.

Honestly, a low end iMac or even the high end Mini would do better depending on how many tracks you plan on recording at once.

Don't waste your money on obsolete tech.

ohh alight...basically i do hip hop so the max number of tracks would be 18 ..so what are some mac suggestions

My late 2007 2.2 Ghz Core2Duo Santa Rosa MacBook could easily handle that. All comes down to how much you want to spend.

The low end iMac would be enough, but I would suggest upgrading to at least 4Gb of RAM.

The higher end Mini might work as well, but again, max out RAM to 4Gb.

ok i understand..im just more of a PC guy lol... i found this on craigslist for $400
i was thinkn maybe this and a ram upgrade?

Honestly if you can't afford an Intel Mac then by all means just stick with Windows on a PC.

Like I said before, any non Intel Mac is a dead end and a waste of money.

i am just going to build a custom PC from parts i ordering from tiger direct

running a intel extreme

if yer planning on running PT LE make sure you follow their compatibility page to the word!
