why so much noise???

my guitar rig setup is pretty basic:

framus cobra amp
sennheiser wireless
korg dtr1000 tuner
dbx 166xl compressor
furman m-8 power

my problem is i get alot of a humming and buzzing noise when i am playing. i do use the high gain channel and do play at a pretty loud volume, but i am using all high grade monster rock cable to connect everything. the difference of the noise is pretty significant when i bypass all the the other equipment and plug directly into the amp, so im just wondering if these pieces of equipment really produces all of the noise that im getting or if its just simpler problem that im over looking.

i have my wireless into my tuner into the compressor into the amp. if i take just one thing out the noise lessens but there is still some there.

Sometimes you can get noise/hum when there is one pedal that has a different power supply.......like 4 out of 5 are 9vdc center +, and 1 is ac or 9vdc center -. Check the power supply indicator on each pedal, see if they are all the same. If not, try removing the one that is different.

Does the hum come in when you plug in the pedals, even if the pedal is not engaged? If you leave everything plugged in but all the effects are off, is the hum still there? If the hum goes away when the effects are turned off, then you may have true bypass on all the pedals, but the ground difference shows up when the effect is turned on. If the hum stays whether the effect is on or off, then your pedals may not have true bypass. I dont understand true bypass completely, so this tip is only worth what you paid for it.

If you have a lot of the popular stuff (like everything says "BOSS" on it) then expect issues like this. If you save your $$$$$ and get the better stuff, you are more likely to avoid these kinds of issues. I gave up on Boss and DOD a long time ago for this reason.

You may need a dedicated pedal power supply, like a Voodoo Lab or a 1 Spot?

If you have no hum/buzz when you plug directly into the amp with no pedals, then it's probably not the guitar or pickups.....

It might also depend on where you live? At home, I have no issues, but at my dorm I get obnoxious interference unless I move my cable around just right. I think that's just cuz there's a radio tower on campus, tho... (or maybe the Monster cables aren't shielded? I dunno)

Also, I would check what soundchaser59 sort of got at. See if there's noise without any of the pedals plugged in, because it could be the guitar.

I'm not an expert in this or anything, I just know that those are the issues I've come across before.

If possible, try working with batteries in your effects if possible, less noisy?

im not running any effects, well i guess you could consider the compressor and effect but, all of the things in my rig are all rack mounted not foot pedals or anything like that. which means there is plugs for everything, no batteries. and like i said, i am using: sennheiser, korg, dbx, furman, and monster, all of which are good brand names, (which i did have to save my $$$$'s for) no "Boss" or "DOD" or any crap like that. so i dont know if thats just what happens when you run this type of equipment or what. it may be the guitar, but i dont think so, i did just have a new pick up put in it, but that was all done by a professional so i dont think it is.

The best single coil pickups in the world installed by the best luthier in the world will still hum, it's the nature of the beast.

You still need to do the process of elimination.....

Is there noise when it's just guitar plugged directly into amp?? Then you have to start by eliminating the hum sources from the guitar AND the amp. I used to have nasty hum at my house. One night I took my rig "as is" to my brothers house, no hum. Only thing changed was the location of my rig. Which means it was my pickups. Hence the Noiseless pickups in my guitar now. no more hum.....

If you plug directly to the amp and there is no hum, then it's something in your rack. Add in the rack units one at a time (add one, test for hum, take it out and add a different one, test for hum, take it out and add a different one, etc.etc.etc...) and see which unit is giving you the hum. Chance are the one that is causing the hum has a preamp gain of some kind that is cranked thru the ceiling.

Do some simple elimination tests before you start banking on the name brands being innocent bystanders.

Is the amp pluged into the Furman as well as everything else?

You could also try taking the units out of the rack, you might be getting a ground loop through the rack rails.

All electronic circuits generate their own noise. They are also generally susceptible to EMI which can "add" to the noise. Your wireless is undoubtedly the biggest culprit in your setup.

A buddy of my bought a used Ibanez where someone had put in a new set of pickups. They messed up the wiring, as that thing was noisy as all hell.

Here's another test - Grab a different guitar, and plug that into your set up. Preferably a guitar with stock pick-ups still installed. How does the noise differ?

is the sennheiser a wireless jack unit? like could you be picking up Radio interference? Is your guitar single coils or humbuckers? I play a Telecaster and notice insane feedback at high gain on a gain channel; a Boss NS 2 sorted it right out for me, try a noise gate. Otherwise, Soundchasers solution looks good; the polarity for a Morley Wah will differ to a Boss pedal; (contrary to Soundchaser, I swear by Boss) and this will effect the sound.

Were do you play your guitar?

If you play with in a few feet of a computer or a cell phone or some other things like that you can get buzzing and humming. I notice the noise when i look up tabs.

Do you have an effects loop input on your amp?

and have you ever tried a noise supressor or a gate?

if your using a $40 furman strip it that doesn't have any filtering, that could cause noise (try taking it out). Make sure your using instrument cables not speaker cables from your guitar to your amp.
