Hey Q ...... how ya' doin' bro'?

For the new year I'm freakin' movin' to Florida ....... near Disney World.
Ya' gonna come see me now?

:D:D:D

Founding Father?

ROFLMAO!!!

Really, I don't think I would look so hot in one of those white haired wigs!

I like this thread, it makes me larf :)

As I said in another thread, I have no allegiance to any company. I have considered buying two Behringer products, a V-amp2 and a Mixer ( dont know the model, was 89 bucks.)

The Vamp2 sounded pretty good at $139 but was flimsy. I bought a J-Station for $99 instead.
The mixer was noisy: I bought a Yamaha MG instead ($99)

I paid $198 for both (the V-amp price was in 2003, the mixer this week), If I would have gone with Behringer: $229

1 - Provided links to comparable gear at comparable price to Behringer.

I suppose I could scan my reciepts, but the prices are easily looked up. Same ballpark price, in fact I SAVED 30 bucks! If someone says the V-amp sounds better I wont argue, on violin the Jstation works better but only geeks like me use it that way

I dont get the "Behringer is so much cheaper" stuff: I buy locally at Sam Ash or Guitar center. Its NOT cheaper, there are plenty of Alesis, M-audio, Yamaha etc. units at the SAME price. Maybe I am just getting good prices in a bad economy, but I research like anybody else. It's the same price.

Fletcher of cheap gear. LOL

I kind of like that really. :D
I want you to put that in your signature line, once you've taken your anti-depressant and chilled out, dawg.

Sooner or later jackasses like me have to realise that it's not that our opinions are invalid, it's just that they are less valid. It's like, "so, how long have you been at this?" and "uh, how many hundred different recording and live setups have you used?" ... and of course "um, just how good were the results really????". Yeah. Ouch!

Dood, Fordvan is a very good '"web" friend of mine!! He is a well-versed in audio and a true engineer to nth degree! I've learned more from him (as well as H Gerst and Bruce Blue-Bear) than anyone else on the 'Net!

Everynow & then "FordVan" takes to smoking some meth-amphetamine & starts bugging out etolling the virtues of any and ALL pieces of cheap gear
out there! :D

Pay him no mind & believe me, he's NO @sshole!

Matter o' fact, he's 1 of the few founding fathers of HR.COM! ;)

Me too: I have a lot of respect for "FordsVan", read all kinds of stuff by this distinguished gentleman  I find him to have a fine sense of humor.

Actually I have a J-Station also and it's better at certain sounds ...... and my POD is better at other sounds. The V-Amp is really good for a bluesy guitar mostly clean but just a touch of break up. The J and the POD get kinda buzzy sounding like that. The J is really good for squeeky clean sounds and I get some good classic rock sounds out of the POD.
They're all useful.

And David's right ..... Behringer isn't always the cheapest. I buy gear that intrigues me without regard, very much, to brand. But there are certainly companies out there that price their gear around the same. Or at least on sales you can get it. I'd probably get one of those Yammie mixers before I'd get a Behringer.

I got a Bass V-Amp for Christmas. Seems to work ok, but the fucking manual has gotta be the worst I've ever seen. I expect that once I learn to tweak the thing, I'll get some acceptable sounds out of it. If it dies, well, it only cost 93 Euros.

That's the only bit of Behringer gear I have. I would argue against their stuff on moral grounds (backwards engineering ripoffs), customer support, and the usual 'made in a Chinese sweatshop' grounds, but, so far, no actual malfunctions.

D@mnnnnnn, all the old-timers are showing up in this thread!! :)

"Misty waters fulll of MEM-OR-IES................!" :o

breaks into song:
Could it be that it was all so simple then .....
Or has time rewritten every line .....
If I had to do it all again
I'd buy B-Gear ....... I fear ..... doo-de-doo - doo ......

This is pathetic. As s _ _ _ _ man, you guys says "Well, errrr, I can't argue with Ed. He certainly DID do some pretty killer sounding work with all that cheap ass gear". But as Ford Van, I am an idiot who doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about. Funny shit guys! It just goes to show that y'all pay FAR less attention to what a man knows and his work, which I have posted, than to his join date and post count.

Hey Ed, how are things going? I just got back to the BBS too, but I had to use a new ID because my other one won't let me post for some reason. What happened to your old handle?

BTW, I ditched the MCI. I loved the sound, but I hated the maintenance cost. I down sized, but I have no complaints other than I need better mic pres.

Errrrrrrrrrr....Dragon sort of banned me from here. :) Shhhhhhhhhh..he hasn't figured out that I am back yet.

Yeah, it is getting harder and harder to maintain big consoles. Just not enough studio business to justify the costs. :(

Last I checked, you had a Hill console? So you ditched that and got a MCI?

Thought I'd chime in too...

yeah - I admit it - I DO have some Behringer stuff amongst all the other "better, more expensive" stuff, and I've yet to have problems with any of it (although I treat every piece of gear with respect). Some of it has been used a lot, too. Go figure... ;)

Cummon now man ... I mean, you can't be right, you're barely even literate!

This isn't an age thing or any of that crap ... I was a prickly little fucker when I was your age too (only 21 now!) but you will soon get over yourself and by the time you get to even 18 you'll realise you hardly knew ANYTHING at 16. ;)

Peace,

Nik

Don't ever make comment about litercy, it took me years and when I was in grade 3 I finally could read enough to pass.

And I am not a prickly little fucker as you put it, I listen to everyones opinions no matter of their age or who they are, I have learned amazing things from my students who have never touched a drum in their life.

D@mnnnnnnnnn, we even got FISHMED in da' house also!!!!

This is like an HR, ole'-skool reunion!!!! :)

Wassssup FishMed!!!

This thread makes me all warm and fuzzy (like cheap toob gear). I think all your menstrual cycles are synchronized now.
