Reasons why I love my bass player ...
So I went out and bought a new 100 watt all tube 1/2 stack recently, and suddenly the low-end players Hartke 350 watt w/4x10" supposedly doesn't cut the mustard.
So my bass player suddenly walks in next practice with a 5,6 or 8 Hundred watt head, an oversized 4x10 with the ports at the base and a 2 x 15" ...
We're back to me being unable to hear myself ...
But I have been a bass player with an 800 watt 8x10 in the past and I know the feeling.
That's why I love my bass player

This guy could probably be blamed safely. Sid really set the bar for bassists whose job was to look cool instead of playing.
So if only guitarists are allowed to dis themselves, and I'm a guitarist as well as a bassist. Can I dis myself as a bassist or only as a guitarist?

maybe... too bad Sid wasn't really a bass player a few key quotes from the wiki-link: "Sid was not recognised as a competent bass player."... "At times during performances, other band members would unplug Sid's bass because his playing was so bad" .... "And he still couldn't play bass when he died."
and that in a punk band, where even a monkey could play bass (no offense to bassists, this is a shot at punk music

i used to be into that music as a kid, but happy to say that Sid was not the reason i got interested in bass

The Beatles bassist Stu Sutcliffe set the standard for form over funtion in the bass player stakes. Sid just reworked it with less bass.
The original Pistols' bassist wasn't bad at all - quite good actually - listen to the singles, the demos ANYTHING recorded without Sid.
