Why do the mixing Gods hate me so?

Theron, I liked the vocal performance on this. I agree that the rhythm was a little muddied by the multiple guitar tracks. Also, I really heard the guitar panned right, but I heard a much quieter guitar left that felt like it was struggling to stay in time.

I have a couple of arrangement suggestions, so take them with a grain of salt. If the main guitar strum is right, I could have heard a guitar counterpoint left to break up the monotony. Maybe sort of a Doc Watson flatpicking sort of thing? I also could have used a break section in there someplace.

Overall I liked it, good luck.

I liked the "woo-hoo" part. :D

Ok, I think this is desguised bluegrass song (though it has more chords then usual bg :) ).

Seriously, you should make it a bluegrass song, it will be great. Think of the way they play acc gtr in fast BG songs: bass-down-bass-down ....... yeehaaa :D

cheers

I didn't hear much of anything wrong with the mix. It sounded good. Godd picking and good double tracked vocals.

No need to elaborate on the ideas for a rhythm section. I might add a suggestion that the last verse or last two verses have a subtle harmony part under the lead. It would add something to the song after the listener has been hearing it for a while.

Theron,

you were the first person to review my tunes so I'm pleased to return the favour. I smiled all the way through this tune, its got a great style and personality about it. I really couldn't hear anything wrong with the mix I thought it all worked well, the vocals were out front and clear and the lyrics held my attention throughout. I suppose the guitar breaks were a bit untidy in places but I'm not sure this style would work with a slick lead break, I kept thinking that a slide bottleneck (Ry Cooder type thing) guitar would work well.

I think I'll give some of your other tunes a listen

This song made me happy, so it can't be bad. You captured the emotions very well. This sounds very tight and yet spontaneous. And as for the mix:

Hah! Crom laughs at your mixing gods. Laughs from his mountain. :D (I've been listening to the Conan soundtrack too much)

Hey Theron, that it is cool! Even though it's sort of bluegrass or whatever, you seem to have a very original thing going. I agree with the comments about the rhythm being tighter, and some vocal harmony, and some half time drums or funky washboard type percussion coming in would be cool. In general, though, it sounds good and alive.
