Armistice

Son of Yoda
... in Reaper.

As far as I know I haven't changed anything from last week, and indeed the last year / entire album, when I've had zero such problems.

Where should I look?

And by massive number I mean more than once a second, all the way through anything I record.

The machine has plenty of power, it's an RME interface. It's not even close to being under stress from a processing point of view. It's not connected to the internet, has no virus protection etc. etc. etc.

Defrag the drive?
Did windows perform an update without you knowing? but not connected to the internet.
Virus? Did you plug a thumb drive in at any time?
Interface driver got corrupted. reload it?
Maybe a cpu or memory board died? But it probably wouldn't boot.
firewire cards are notorious for being finicky. Are you using a FW card? Maybe reload drivers for that.
crickets in the house?
your girlfriend trying to get your attention?
Your beer defrosting?

And of course, the most obvious cause of glitches... the white elephant.

I actually think it may be something to do with planes... seem to be a lot of them out today. Seems now, on further delving, to be on playback, so I'm thinking it's not getting record. Still a damn mystery and after this morning's unpleasantness with all my Reaper plugins disappearing it's telling me that the world isn't ready for any more of my music just now...

Did your buffers get lowered by accident ? Kind of an obvious thing but that would cause it. Accidental changes to the BIOS will do it too.

If you are starting to see erratic behavior I suggest a check disk. Since you said the plugins disappeared. When applications start acting up for edit Unknown edit reasons, then I start looking at the hard drive.

I'll have to check what happened when I reinstalled Reaper - seeing the plugins went missing maybe there were other changes as well... cheers.

I'll have a look, thanks - my theory is still that it's some form of RF interference... cheers

If I had experienced that problem, I would go for the "system restore' solution, and get back to a place before the install.

Should the problem persist even then, you now it's not to do with the install. That would take you down the path of exploring causes such as RF interference.

OR try rolling back REAPER to an earlier version to see if anything went wrong there,if it's not that just re-install the latest version again!

REAPER | Old Versions

EDIT: Sorry Armi just saw over @ the forum, you'd already tried this, hope it turns out ok!
