I'm the only guy I know who has one. It's the only mic I use in front of extra loud amps. I'm surprised we don't see more of these. It's a large diaphram dynamic that compesses the snot out of the high end. It can handle any spl where the 57 normally starts to crap out.

I tried a Stedman ND-90 (their SM-57 wanna be) and didn't care for it. You're talking about the side address dynamic, right? I've not tried that yet. To tell you the truth, IMHO, if you're folding over a 57, the amp's too damn loud.:D

Having both mics, I a/b them and have noticed that the 57 has a brittle zone in the upper end. Brittle by comparison only.

My guitarist is louder than yours

I like them both - I put a 57 at the grill and my N90 about a foot back. Record each to their own track, then play with level and pan to get a great mix of the two.

My guitarist plays a strat through a Marshall cabinet so freakin loud, my fillings ring!
