Winner chicken dinner!
I was wondering who, or at least who will admit to smoking *green herbs* while mixing???? Do you think *mary jane herbs* helps you mix? When under the influence of *chronic herbs* do you feel you can hear things better in a mix or get a better mental picture of each sound in the mix? Who feels that *skunk herbs* hinders their ability to mix?

"I feel like I'm on crazy pills", this is what Will Farrell has said in the past!

Smoking weed helps you hear things better and get a better mental picture of the mix???

I think not.

Drugs in the studio are not a good idea...even if it's your studio and you're the one doing them.

I tried that once....

The combination made for my shittiest work ever.

So I quit smoking...

Now I get high off music...

I think if you take your job seriously you'll need a clear head. Pot does NOT give you a clear head. But it sure makes you THINK you hear things better. And if you are a singer you should stay away from anything cold or caffienated when tracking.

I think I agree with you guys. Some in the past have claimed that it made them better or hear things better. It doesn't seem right though.

Smoking dope makes you slow and stupid. Sometimes I like to be slow and stupid. But not when I'm working, and mixing is working.-Richie

I get high/drunk and mix....thats usually when i'm the most motivated to mix because I have a bazillion ideas i wanna try out. Just make sure to have one of your fave commercial mixes handy to a/b so you don't fukk up the balance and/or over do an efx.

I usually drink wine during mixing, and eat a lot of sugar during tracking.

I enjoy the odd cigarette during recording or mixing or whatever. But I had to give up pot a while ago because it was frying my brain.

No Green,Red,Gold, or other Herb while working....It has a tendency to cause unknown Audio waves in your brain...........or is that Gamma? I can't remember. :D

Just pass it on and have a think about it for a while...

I usually just skip the pot and go straight on to the Oreo cookies. Saves a lot of time and money that way!

Caution: Cookie crumbs and channel faders do not "mix' (pun intended) :D

Both weed and alcohol affect your hearing, not to mention your judgement. I always wait until I'm finished mixing/tracking/whatever before I "relax."

When trying to be artistic it ain't always a bad thing IMO

about 3 years ago I was at a pro studio of a 35 year engineer that was mixing my buddy's modern 60s style original rock band. I watched him smoke more pot than I've probabbly done in my life while he was tracking and mixing the band. I have the final product and its not too damn bad!!! I say do what works.

Well tons of experience helps. Todd Rundgren did a great job w/ XTC's "Skylarking" and supposedly he was super-high all the time.

...was just thinking about XTC - didn't know the Rundgren connection!
For my own experience -I'm far from mastering; but for tracking, performance, etc........ it's better all around when you wait....... :)
