Hey!

I think we're finally starting to discover the importance of having some fans do some of the grunt work for you when everything starts getting overwhelming.

Does anyone have any idea as to how a good Street Team should be run? We've narrowed down 4-5 major areas near us (including SF the city we're based). Anyone know a good balance of what the Team does for you and what we do for them in return...downloadable posters to put up...bla, bla, bla...

Please share what you know if you have any insite in this.

Thanks!

You need a street team manager. Most bands use either close friends or family members. Others use very responsible and energetic fans.

Big bands give special access to tickets before they go on sale, some get nothing. Your best bet is to look at what other bands are doing, see what they give to their street team members. Type in "street team rewards" in google.

Advice: do NOT micro manage them. Street teams are something fans do to show their support. If you want someone to work for you, hire a promotions company. Other wise the members will feel used and unappreciated.

hmmmm...some interesting stuff...thanks. do you guys use any kind of street team?

think of a street team like volunteers...

just give them a bunch of shit to get out, be it stickers, demos, flyers or whatever, give them some sort of general goal and timeframe, and let them spread the word for you

Running a street team on a local level can be very tough. Here is my advice:

Get anyone who TRUELY believes in you to hand out flyers and cds to whomever they come into contact with. When you write a new song...THESE helpers hear the songs first. When you have a show, THESE people get in for free/majorly discounted. Also, don't be afraid to stand around and hand out your cd for free at malls...especially around the Xmas season. Yes, you will get asked to stop by security...no, they won't stop you if you are outside the entrances handing them out....everyone who comes has to leave sometime! Plus, if you hand someone a cd on their way out of a building...they are most liekly going to their car and putting that cd in a cd player because they are "curious." My two cents.

I don't know about a street team, per se, but my band has mimes. Formerly assistants for different projects that the people in my band were involved in, they now promote endlessly, pass out free pins, sell CDs to anyone who'll listen, PLUS they're backup dancers. We've got two high-level mimes, Pixie and Vixen, and they've got subgroups of persons so they can delegate certain responsibilities.
