Hey, who's the guy who always has the line "More cowbell" at the bottom of his posts? He needs that pic above!

Andres Segovia

Seriously whats all this talk about rock and roll players?

Jeff Healey - The guy can play better blind and in his lap than most normal "guitar gods" can play.

Good call....Jeff rocks! I can't figure out how he does the ripping lines with his guitar on his lap.

Dunno if he's been mentioned, but....

Duane Denison formerly of the Jesus Lizard and now in Tomahawk, and I believe he was playing for Hank 3. This guy changed my outlook on guitar, at a time when I had just about stopped caring because no one was doing anything fresh anymore.

He's been mentioned a couple of times in this thread already, but I just have to have my say...

NUNO BETTENCOURT!

Yeah he was highly rated back in the Extreme days, but thanks to MTV and all that crap he doesn't get much a mention anymore, but man he's still such an amazing guitarist. Since Extreme, there's been 4 albums and a recently released EP, and it's all amazing stuff. New album in the next few months, and a band name change...

My second on a vote for Gary Moore...and Rik Emmett. *Geez this could go on for 17 or 18 pages* :)

I think Billy Horwerdel is one of the best guitarists out there. He isnt a chops monster, but he writes incredible music, and has great tone.

Gary Hoey has my vote has done quite alot never hear him spoken of
Gary was an old teacher of mine, and I agree he is highly underrated. I think he just broke too late- that music was dead and he squeezed the last few drops out. Last I heard he is back in Boston. In fact, he was auctioning his Rocktron gear on eBay a while back.
I'd also make a case for Leslie West. I once read that he was considered as Clapton was amongst his peers in his heyday, but if if wasn't for the fact that he was a fat Jewish guy, the fans would have embraced him more.

...and what ever happened to Stanley Jordan?

These type of things will always come down to personal choice and can never be definitive, interesting nevertheless..Also there are those who excell in "Only" one type of music and others who are across the board good players, I have had the pleasure of playing with some of the best over the years. However, thats only MY opinion. There are many who have also made it that I dont personally rate at all...again merely my opinion. The latest young guy with talent is blind guitarist Johnny Hiland (Country)
once again my opinion.

This thread roused from the dead after almost 7 years! Is that a record?
