Yes, yet an an other great song from RAMI. Loved it, not one thing I dont like. Drums are recorded perfect, guitars perfect, bass nice low end with that punch, infact the entire thing has the punch feeling but its not overdone. Loved it! Great tune too.

How are those c1000s working out for you? I was thinking of picking up a couple myself.

You can probably answer the question about the C1000's as well as I can. If you like the sound of my drums, then I guess they're working out. I thought they were perfect until I showed up at this site a few months ago, and all I heard was that they're over-priced and over-rated. I don't have good enough ears to agree or disagree with that, and they were a gift, so I didn't go out and compare with other mics. But I personally love them. I've learned to work with them and am used to them for my set up. I guess that's what really counts, after all.

Rami, being the Mutant Hampster in Overalls , can you tell us a bit about the process you take to create these great songs. Do you write the music first or the words first or is it a bit of both? How about the sequence of recording instruments. And since I'm looking for some bass guitar tips, how do you get that thumpin' bass sound? I like the way it goes together with your bass drum (excellent timing too). Any mixing tips for eq on that too so they stay clean like yours?

Bass playing is all about the right hand. You have to have the pluck technique down so it sounds like a"bass player", rather than "guitarist playing a bass"... Rami has it right... but we bassists can hear a guitarist with a bass in their hand a mile away...

HaHa, LOL. That's funny.

I enjoy making the bass playing moves on the six string guitar and occasionally playing just the bass notes. Some times I'll enjoy playing "a" bass line (not necessarily what the recording has). But more than that I don't plan on. I don't want to spend time and learn the tricks of the trade. And technique. I see some guys at the guitar center messing with a 5 string bass slapping the crap out of it. I mean those guys can play. And I realize that I don't have the time or the drive to "learn" another instrument. I'd rather fake it with my guitar and EQ it, or just MIDI it in. I just thought, it'd be nice to have a bass around eventually so I can record real bass. But I guess I should focus more on finding a band since that's my ultimate goal anyway.

To answer your question, I can't say I have a process. Being a drummer, chord progressions and melodies don't come as natural to me as they would for a "real" musician. Alot of times, it's a phrase, a beat, a hook a guitar riff. I find many times that as soon as I lock myself in the studio and decide to start developing something, other ideas come together...Sometimes they work sometimes, they don't. Not having the advantage of a band that I can jam my ideas ot even bounce them off other people, I'll usually just put something down and start jamming to it or singing jibberish until it starts taking shape.
As far as recording is concerned, I almost always do it the same way. I lay down the scratch guitar track to a drum machine beat. Then I'll do the bass, re-do the guitar with the real guitar tracks, add vocals, and then do the drums last, using the drum machine beat I played to as a click track. Then I'll go back and correct whatever has to be corrected.
Once I post a tune here, I almost always go back and re-do things based on what others might have heard that I might have missed...THAT's why I post here even when I know a song isn't totally developped.

The fact that you do drums last just baffles me... I'd never be able to sync up. I do a click/count track, and play drums to it, then add the other music so I can lock to my drummer, know what I'm sayin'?

Yes, I dig...That's why I do sometimes have to go back and re-track some stuff after the drums...You heard my raw tracks, you can see that it was far from perfect. I do have to say that the tune you mixed was one of the harder to play to...Don't know why, maybe the slow tempo just made it drag a bit, I dunno. But usually, I love it recording that way. It's like playing to a click with music.
