Which would you choose?

I'm getting a M audio Octane Pre, and I saw on ebay there's a guy selling them and throwing a mic in with the deal...

What I already have:
3 SM57, SM58, Sennheiser e609,
3 AT pro37r, Pair Oktava MK012,
SP c1, AT 4040 (looking at geting a pair of 4033's soon...)

So! Based on your EXPERIENCE, which mic would you choose to add to this collection and WHY

Studio Projects B1, Marshall V67G, MXL 770, Joe Meek JM27s
Other option: a pair of AT M20 headphones and 2 20' whirlwind mic cables

I've got all of those mics that you mention and I'd go with the SPB1, mainly cause it's the most versatile. But IMO, considering what you've already got, I'd go with the cables and cans.
 
The most expensive mic on the list was the SP B1, which is $99 at various dealers. You can buy the Octane for $450 from American Musical Suppy. Total value $550. Total price from that eBay store: $599.

It's sad when buying things from eBay costs more than buying them from reputable dealers... but in my experience, these days, getting a good deal from eBay is the exception, not the rule....
 
My experience tells me to go with the SP B1. The main reason is SP use of 797 capsules, which have a better overall sound than the capsules in the MXL and Joemeek mics (the v67 and JM27 are the same mic as far as the circuit and capsule). The 770 is more like a pencil condenser in a large body.

CT has a good point in that you already own an AT 4040, which is an exceptional mic. Go with cans and cables if you don't want/need another LDC.
 
I appreciate that...but I'm in Canada...

To get one (lowest price and I've shopped) is 760 here in Canada...

600 american turns into about 750 Canadian...if I can get a free mic too it's a better deal all around...

But then again there's the cost of getting it across the border...

In Canada we have to think about way more...

That's odd. American Musical Supply says they will ship to Canada. That's the price I quoted ($450 U.S., $526 Canadian). Unless it costs $224 CA in shipping and tariffs....

That's awesome if they ship to Canada. The only other place I've found that ship to Canada is Music123. Most places won't...or they will only for certain brands. Thanks for the heads up.

Nonetheless, I want to know about these mics and if they're worth it.

Just checked out American Musical Supply

Are you sure they sell for 450? I haven't seen anything on the site indicating that...their list price for an Octane is 599.97. Am I missing something somewhere?

Grr. I'm wrong Froogle listed a Firewire 1814 in a search for the Octane.

Okay, 4beatz.com sells it for US$475, and I did confirm that one.
