I am buying a pair of Samson Resolv 50a Studio Monitors for a Boss BR864 recorder. I am a little confused as to which type of cable is needed to connect the monitors to the recorder. It says "Connections 1/4" and RCA inputs." What exactly does this mean? And what kind of cable would I need?

Can someone please answer this question?

there should be a monitor left , and monitor right inputs on the back of your recorder..... either XLR, or 1/4 cable....

pretty simple really, left speaker goes to Monitor L, and right speaker to monitor R.

1/4 cable is your basic instrument guitar cable, thats what im using now , but im sure the thicker the gauge the better.... i know music stores sell them, they are ussually used when connection guitar / bass heads to cabs.

edit : i use one of these ---

You really just need to look at the output of the unit and the input of the speakers and find a cable that will go from one to the other. It really is that simple.

Ok,

But I haven't purchased it yet. I'm trying to purchase everything online at once so that I don't have to send anything back, so I'm trying to double check everything to make sure it's exactly what I need...

Which cable do I need? The 1/4" RCA or just regular 1/4" cables?

That cable you linked to from SamAsh will work just fine.
The Boss has RCA Line outs and the Samsons have RCA and 1/4" inputs (you can use either one). So, for that matter, you can use plain old RCA cables like these.
Just make sure you use shielded cables and not speaker wire, being as how those monitors are actives.

I figured that the description meant either or, but just wanted to make sure. Thank you! :)
