Acid 4.0 is all I have used (in the 4-5 times I have tried tracking) :)

i do have Adobe Audition, Cool Edit Pro, SoundForge 6 and vegas that I can try but have not made the switch yet from Acid 4. Am I missing out?

I mainly record Acoustic guitar and vocals (through my SP B1 mic > Mixer > Card), and then Electric (witha sm57 micing the amp). I use my Alesis SR-16 for drums and thats about it (yea I know I need some bass someday but loops are ok for now hehe)

How is the SP B1?

Well I actually just upgraded to Sonar v5.0, so i guess selecting 1 would have to suffice.

Well I love it! I dont have much to compare it to other than my SM57 and my old SM58, but a condenser and dynamic are 2 different animals.

For $99 I dont think you can beat it I am told..and I am very happy with the sound thus far.

Steinberg Wavelab....its awesome.

I have Tried most of the programs listed in the Poll and I didn"t like most of them accept for N-Track which was a Little too limited for me....

I now use "Mackie Traction 2.1" which is so far the easiest one for me to use as it is set up much like an analogue Studio which is so much easier for me to get my head arround....

cheers

Make your mixes in Logic. At least logic pro have all the tools you need to get a best possible mix.
When it comes to mastering I have allways considered that to be an external job.
You can hardly master your own work in terms of getting the mix better.
If it comes down to making several tracks sound more "bundled" and correcting levels - sure you can "master".
There are many, many mastering bundles out there. Hard for me to say whats the best.
Try a google.com search for "mastering bundle"

Have fun making music/mixes.

I use Sequoia because it is amazing.

3,000 dollars, but Heaven!

It does it ALL!

A lot of OG Vegas guys are spreading the Reaper Madness as we speak

I've got a program called Mixcraft, made by Acoustica, and it works great. Although latly it has had a few problems with freezing up, but saving lots fixes that problem.

I've heard lots of good things about mixcraft.

i really want to learn logic. but currently, working hard on cubase.

Damn..i want a Mac G5 and Logic!
I know the feeling :)
Went from PC/Cubase to G5/Logic 5 days before a song deadline. Don´t try that, as Logic has a somewhat "hidden" approach. Your first days is gonna be like "what have I DONE?". From there it´s heaven on earth. Love it.

So now i was going to use a hp a1423w and going to spend 6 to 7 grand.
