Which recording software?

The type of software you use to record with ends up being very much a matter of personal taste. When I started I tried everything I could: Logic, Cubase, Fruity loops, Cakewalk, Sonar, Cool edit, Pro tools, etc etc.

I finally ended up using Sonar. Why? after a whole heap of soul searching, I just liked the logic of it. I use Sonar Pro version 5 now and the sound quality is truly superb, it beats the crap out of the previous versions of sonar which sounded like someone had put a large woolen blanket over your speakers.

In saying that, Protools and Logic are primo bits of software, with their own advantages and disadvantages. I think most top end sequencer/recording software is so good these days that there isn't much in it between them except personal taste. Experiment, there are plenty of demos for download from most of these companies. Once you've found the software stick with it.

ummm... what's wrong with my friend giving me his software? not a copy... the actual software? Do we frown upon generosity around here as well? hmmm... very interesting... and it's "faux pas" ... but i don't know that because i'm smart... i had to look it up... so yeah

Ahh, thanks for clarifying that. Whew. :p

Yes the beauty of the internet is we can all use big words we don't really understand or know how to spell, cause we can just look 'em up.

The program I use isn"t talked about much here but for me it has been the Best and easiest program to use for recording that I have Tried....

I couldn"t Figure out Cubase or Sonar and Adobe Audition was too limited and I couldn"t Figure out Samplitude at all and Abelton Live was useless to me, so after wasteing a Lot of Money on a Lot of Useless software I finally came across "Mackie Traction 2.1" and so far this is the Best Multi-Tracking Software I have Tried and is extremely easy and Flexable and it Compatible with most all Third Party VST and DX plugins and it comes with some good ones also, Best of all I was able to start recording after only useing the software for 10 minutes were with Sonar after 2 days I still hadn"t Figured out how to select my recording device and to arm tracks for recording.....

Do a Search for "Mackie Traction 2.0" and I"m sure you will find it a very good recording program and it has a 30 day demo available and the Program only retails for $149.....

Cheers
