In imagining my dream studio and trying to decide on the order of future purchases, i came across a dilemma. I have decided that when i next have a significant (i.e. ~$1500-2000) amount of money i will buy a really good stereo pair of mics and a nice preamp. I'm recording live recitals of classical music, so which mics and what preamp - what about the Neumann KM183s (or should i go for the cardiod 184s )... which preamp will fit this budget. Thanks!

Both the Neumann KM183s (omni) or the KM184s (cardioid) would be good choices for classical recitals. The 183 will pick up a little more of the audience and the ambient surroundings, so that would be an important factor to consider. If it's a great sounding place, go with the 183s. If it's not great acoustically, get the 184s.
